Good only in daytime February 29, 2008 Chris (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having just bought a laptop I needed a small cheap clip-on webcam to use when talking to friends and family who live elsewhere, and it's fantastic... during the daytime. Great resolution, high quality pictures and video, and it comes with a cool little software package similar to WebcamMax with a range of fun effects. At nighttime however - with a normal level of ambient lighting - don't even bother trying; just switch it off and pack it away. The picture (if you could call it that) is incredibly poor, very dark and grainy even at the brightest setting. It seems the lens is just too small; anything short of direct sunlight and you can't make anything out. A real annoyance because that's when I would be using it most. As for the "powerful integrated light"... what rubbish! Yes, the two tiny LED bulbs are bright - blinding almost so how anybody could bare to keep them on, I don't know - but get about a foot away from them, and perhaps there'll be a dim blue circle illuminating your face with the same graininess and poor quality. Don't waste your money on this, possibly go with Logitech.
