rip off - message e90 - it will stop working after a while May 15, 2008 josh 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My rx520 was working just fine when suddenly i get a message E90 on the screen which means you have to have it serviced (which btw would be more expensive than getting another printer). It turns out this message comes up because epson have installed timers or counters into their printers. so after a certain amount of usage your printer will simply die. Epson's excuse is that it is to prevent ink leaking onto your desk. And seems to be that's all it is - an EXCUSE to RIP YOU OFF, because after all, they could have allowed the scanner to continue working, couldn't they? But no, the whole all-in-one is dead. Shame, i liked the negative scanning facility. I've been loyal to epson, had a stylus 740 and an stylus 810 in the past but next time - it's definitely NOT AN EPSON.
Fine printer - Terrible scanner April 19, 2008 S Curl (London, England) I bought my Epson Stylus RX520 about 18 months ago. I find the photo and general print quality to be excellent. Big problem with the scanner though. The scanner worked fine for 12 months however now it leaves a fuzzy band down one side of all it scans. The helpdesk is predictably helpless, inviting me to spend more money on a broken product. I may try a different brand next time.
Epson Stylus RX520 Good printer shame about the scanner February 16, 2008 Ms. T. J. Charlton I have had a Epson Stylus RX520 for about 15 months, I bought it for the print quality, which is excellent and I don't have a problem with. The built in scanner was a bonus so I got rid of my old HP scanner (mistake). I have probably done no more than 20 scans in the time I have owned it. Now the scanner leaves a band down the left handside of every image. Epson's helpdesk response to this issue was for me to to buy a new unit as its not worth fixing. If you need a scanner look elsewhere, or don't get rid of your old scanner.
Epson RX520 January 15, 2008 Sanj (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this for uni, and works perfectly fine. The separate colours for ink cartridges is good, no longer have to throw a cartridge just because one colour has run out! Print quality is excellent, have printed some photo's too and they were extremely good. The interface is extremely simple to use, for people who are saying that the copier is poor quality, hasnt been a problem at all for me when photocopying pages from books. Have had this for over a year now, and havent had a single problem at all, although i havent used the feature of printing direct from negatives. Cartridges are dirt cheap too, can get them refilled for 5 each, bargain compared to 20 each for my old HP!
ok for printing photographs useless at scanning slides June 16, 2007 R. Clark (Worthing) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
this printer is ok for normal printing, but all slides come out very out of focus when scanned. Epson support brought two replacements and even the epson technician could not get any of the 3 to scan slides properly. Thus this must be a design fault.
