Works great with my new iMac July 9, 2008 Mr. D. J. Moody (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Was a bit sceptical on buying a tablet that wasn't by Wacom but not anymore. It was extremely easy to set up and works so easy. Its nice and light so I can take it with me and use on my mac book pro when I go back to Uni in September. Can't moan about the price either. I paid a bit extra to get it next day and sure enough it arrived before 12 today. Comes with 2 spare nibs as well which makes a nice change. Not going to go in to much detail but as a first user tablet it performs great with no lag in touch to screen at all. So if you need a tablet, buy this one today.
Quality. July 7, 2008 Mr. Leon Dexter (Wales) After a long search for an A4 tablet, looking through problem after problem on other tablets, I found this. It's the only tablet I could find without some flaw that made me think again. It has handy little quick launch buttons you can program things into eg. CTRL+Z, mozilla quick launch, Photoshop quick launch, Word etc. The pen is surprizingly light considering it has an AAA in it (comes free with it too). Only a touch heavier than the Wacom Volito2 pen. Changeable paper behind a protective strip so you can put any picture you want in there (A4). The only thing I will mention is that in Photoshop there's occaisionally a slight delay. Overall very nice tablet. Best I could find for less than 100.
Serious Flash Issues May 22, 2008 Disco Bear 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I specificly got this to do animation on Flash but every time I open up Flash with this plugged (after installing it) Flash just automaticly quit itself everytime (which it doesn't normally do). Therefore this tablet is cursed and we be meeting Amazon again quite shortly. It's foolishness has no place in my house. Get a Wacom instead of this clown of a tablet.
Wow. Very very impressed! May 1, 2008 pantsofdeath (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have an A3 Wacom Intuos tablet at home, which is great, but I spend a lot of time on the road living in Hotel rooms and so I wanted a travel tablet. Originally I bought a Wacom Volito2, but I hated it, even at it's softest setting you have to press really hard and so natural sketching isn't possible, also the drawing area is about the size of a credit card. I saw this Aiptek Slim 600u on Amazon and the reviews were good so I bought one and I am very impressed. First impression when I got out of the box (free delivery - only took 2 days) was how slim the slim tablet is - it is only 5mm thick apart from a bar at the top that is about 10mm. Then I noticed that almost the entire tablet is drawing area (whereas the wacom had about 2-3 inches of non-drawing area all around). I plugged it in and it was detected immediately and then I put a battery in the pen and started to draw. What a fantastic tablet! The sensitivity is as good (or maybe better) than my intuos (which is admittedly a first generation model) and there was no detectable lag even when moving the pen very fast. it feels very natural. The pen tip is sprung and so squashes in when you press harder, I like this effect. Wacom nibs do not move discernibly no matter how hard you press so if you are used to that you might find this takes a little getting used to. Unknown element: I do not know how long the battery in the pen will last yet. Summary: The Volito 2 costs 5 pounds less than the Aiptek Slim, but for my money there is no comparison between them. I would say that the Aiptek is at least as good as my Intuos (which would still cost 4 times as much if I got one on ebay), it is light, portable and a joy to use and for the money is an absolute bargain! If you want a light, portable tablet with a large drawing area and great performance look no further.
It's fantastic April 22, 2008 Matthew Hicks (london UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've never written a review before , but thought I would add my thoughts regarding this product. I'm running my first startup and needed to get setup on a budget. In all the large film companies i've working in the last 10 years I have always used Wacom. Cautious at buying a tablet for such reasonable value, I am super impressed with it's performance straight out of the box. Yes quality wise the plastics aren't as nice as the Intuos series, but the tablet and pen work great, and for 1/6th of the price :-) After I installed the drivers for Mac OS X , i fired up Photoshop and went to work, pressure control is great, i'm amazed at this product, what an excellent price!
