Fantastic desktop replacement October 3, 2008 Mr. S. M. Marshall 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently returned a HP AMD laptop to Dixons, this is far superior in every way. The graphics are amazing in quality, and highly fluid on 3d. Its monsterously fast, and I would recommend to anyone. Buy one.
Are these reviews honest and above board? October 1, 2008 Wilfred (Stavanger) 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
I am concerned about the veracity of these reviews. Two of the reviews awarding the highest rating for the Acer 7720G are almost identical. In the reviews by the Reverend Gareth Bowen of London and Adam Guerin of Bath(ish), both choose to spell 'colour' and 'Theatre' in the American fashion and both are currently into their fourth laptop. Perhaps both of the above persons, if they actually exist, work for Acer. Whatever the connection these reviews are unreliable, to say the least, and should Amazon choose to keep both on their website, it could be construed as misrepresentation by the Seller or his Agent. I would advise Amazon to remove the dubious articles forthwith. Once they are removed this 'review' can also be removed as I am currently awarding a low star rating to try to even things up a bit. Let the Buyer beware.
Acer support is terrible September 29, 2008 Stephen C. Baird (London, UK) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Acer tech support has got to be the worst i have EVER experienced. They are rude, send machines back with faults they never had in the first place and will take for ever to fix faults. I would NEVER recommend anyone to buy ANY Acer equipment!
Excellent September 19, 2008 Ben the Cat (West Yorks, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great machine - was looking for a 17" with a dedicated graphics card and at least a Core2Duo 7xxx , and this is at least 100- 200 cheaper than the competition. Having got it, runs a treat, looks great, and is a pretty good weight considering the size - only minor quibble is I'm not too keen on the touchpad, but that's just personal preference and I'll be using a mouse most of the time anyway. As one of the other reviewers said, so what if HD is defunct - you're not paying any extra for it, treat it as a freebie. Arrived within a week too, and the cheap offer on MS Office was handy.
no disk? old hd-dvd but still great spec .. September 5, 2008 liverpool rule ok (uk) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
i thought i would hate the hell out of this laptop that my son brought last month and as played on it day and night ever since delivered, i know i sould hate the thing with its betamax hd-dvd drive and no vista restore disks and poor user manual or no manuals in my case.. but he as used it and i must say its a powerful nice looking laptop with good spec, only comment from my son was the poor mouse pad so he brought a mini usb mouse to use instead. the acer restore software works great so how cares about disks ... had to reload the thing as some how my lad binned the rubbish din first day and could not get it back but this is a vista thing not a acer fault.. all good so far and worth the money but like all gadgets specs change and prices drop but for school work its a bargain..
