Great Speakers March 23, 2008 David Aitken 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Love these speakers and have no complaints what so ever. They sound great, they look great and as for this buzzing people complain about all the time, all i can say is they are real fuss pots! The noise is very very minimal and is standard with every speaker system. I highly recommend these speakers
Amazing March 16, 2008 CD (England) Ok so if you have read about these speakers then most likely a lot of people complain about the mains hum that they produce, this is annoying at first. This problem however you get used to and does not really affect the use of the speakers and if it does annoy that much then dont get them, that was the only problem i thought that i would have with them and it turned out to not even be a major problem. The actual speakers are brilliant, in my mind as good as the Bose Companion III speakers. They do however need a bit of run in time, espescially the sub which sounded really hollow when i first got them and was slightly dissapointed but after a few months of using them it has got so much better and has become punchy, exactly what you want in a set of speakers. The connnections are really good definately a bonus if you own a small tv as they make the standard speakers seem pants, which is what they really are. Only gripe here is that the headphone socket on the control pod is shocking and the quality is bad, but since i use a laptop this is not a problem as headphones can be plugged straight into it. The speakers also have an amazing sound that i believe is on par with some much more expensive speakers, i have had in 6 months no problem with build quality or other issues.
Nice idea, poor execution February 9, 2007 Erik Corry (Denmark) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I like the fact that there's no input selector. This system just mixes all inputs at all times, which is very convenient. I think it looks great. But the standby power consumption is 22W according to my measurements. I find that totally unacceptable. In fact the standby power consumption is almost the same as the power consumption when it is switched on, but no music is playing. And the humming annoys me too. It really reduces its value as a stereo replacement.
Good sound - but terrible hum makes this a bad product February 4, 2007 Per Velschow (Denmark) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I got these today and I plan to take them back to the store the first thing tomorow hoping to get my money back. The reason is the annoying hum from the subwoofer. The minute you plug the power cord into the AC, the low-pitched hum starts. I've moved it around various places in the house to see if it was some kind of interference. No matter what I did, the hum was the same. It's important to note that the only way to get rid of the sound is to cut the power to the unit - pressing the power button on the controller does not help. Other people have mentioned this hum and some have replied that it's very low or that you can just unplug it. Neither are true in my case and I suspect anyone that don't like noise and want to have their speakers ready for playing sound will think the same. I suppose there could also be a difference between countries as the hum pobably originates from the electrical system. I live in Denmark and we use 220V at 50Hz. I cannot recommend this to anyone who is the least bit sensitive to idle noise.

try these for an alternative Harman Kardon Soundsticks II - these are stylish and the sound is much much more impressive!!!
