a nice buy, but... March 18, 2008 CoopXP these speakers are very good, the sound, it's asthetics and everything. but personally i returned these as i thought i could get a better buy. and i was right, for the exact amount of money i found the mm50 speakers created by logitech. they are simply amazing. although it does not have radio, the speakers are rechargable, also has a remote and it is more compact making it easier to take around places with you as it comes with a case. so before you decide on buying these speakers (not that they're bad) have a look at the "mm50"
Fuzzy sound quality March 16, 2008 playhookie (UK) Having bought this on the basis of reviews saying that it was comparable to a Bose (!), I am very disappointed in the quality of sound. It is a bit tinny and the base distorts. It is not bad as a set of portable speakers, but it is not sufficiently good to replace my old but very good quality hifi. Remote needs a lot of pressing to make it work as well - very frustrating as it is easier to just get up and go over to the thing to make your changes... However, on the plus side for those of you who do want it for portability rather than as a replacement hifi, it is easy to set up and stylish.
Fantastic... Just one thing January 19, 2008 mitsuko045 (Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I use my iPod a lot and it's where all my music is so I really wanted something that would give me excellent quality and well that's exactly what i got! Some people have said if you turn the volume up to the 30 the sound gets muffled, personally if i'm in the same room with the volume at 15 it leaves my ears ringing!!! It's very small, extremely portable, I love how I can even use them as speakers for my computer!! It was reasonably priced and I love everything about it! Well almost everything, my only annoyance is thatafter you turn it off, after a few hours it'll turn itself on and if it's on and not used it'll turn it's self off... I've had bad experiences at 3am of the speaker turning on, turning my charging ipod on at the same time and having me blasted out of bed! My sister has the exact same model and her speakers turn off after only a few minutes! Rather confused about this and I can't find an explanation for it, but it's a minor flaw on what is an outstanding set of speakers!!
Excellent January 3, 2008 C. Harwood 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We ordered the speakers on new years day through Amazon and they arrived before 9am on 3rd January which made me very happy. They were really easy to set up and we got it working straight away. It isn't as big as we thought so fits nicely in the kitchen. For the price the sound quality is very good and the radio is a brilliant additional feature making it more usefull. The remote is also very handy and again makes the unit easy to use. We have noticed that when you turn the speakers off the i-pod stays on so remember to turn it off also. I would highly recommend these speakers.
Excellent value for money December 29, 2007 J. H. Turner (UK,) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Considering the price of this unit it gives a good sound and has the added bonus of a radio (not DAB). I think people trying to compare it with Bose units is a little unfair as that unit is three times the price! The other advantage of this unit is that it matches both black and white IPods. All round I am very happy with the Gear4.
