What an Amazing little Box ! May 16, 2008 Mr. B. Harris (UK) I'm not one for writting reveiws on stuff but as many I felt I had to as this really is a little gem !! Amazing sound, bass, and vocals if your looking for an ipod stereo then this is the one to get 10/10
brilliant design - fatally flawed April 29, 2008 Nick (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What is in a name? Clearly the jivebox has been designed for a market whose listeners ONLY listen to music recorded at consistently high levels. As other reviewers have noted this system flips into standby mode after about 20 seconds of any music that is not unremittingly loud. So if you listen to any kind or style of music that does not hammer away without stopping your jivebox will go to sleep! Such a shame because the sound is superb. The illuminated coloured strip is deeply pointless for anyone over the age of 5 and the simple cloth covering of the many speaker ports does leave one feeling that the unit might be vulnerable to physical damage. Solve the standby issue and this will be a highly competitive unit. In sonic terms easily beating the Bose system at half the price. BUT for now spend your money elsewhere. I replaced this unit with a Klipsch iGroove SXT which is a little cheaper, a lot smaller but with excellent sound as well.
Excellent peice of kit. April 23, 2008 Simon Haslam (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pleasantly surprised with this little gem. Looks great, fits in a little corner. Sound is awesome. A gift for the price.
Highly Recommended April 13, 2008 Ross Mitchell 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a well built piece of kit that looks the business. The sound quality is excellent with rich powerful bass (that you feel) & very good mids & trebles. After 3 weeks use I have not experienced the Jivebox going into standby on "quiet tracks, or when being played on low volume. As with most systems,I feel that it is at at its best at mid (i.e. you can still have a conversation) & loud volume levels as you can then very clearly hear the detail in any genre of music. I also listened to the Griffin Amplifi which I feel is on a par with regard bass but can be a bit muddy with the mids - not a problem with the Jivebox as you can just adjust the bass & treble with the slim remote to suit your taste (as well as change albums, tracks, etc). The dock for Ipods is well designed as you just sit your ipod on the connector & push it back to rest on the inbuilt support(no need for additional dock connectors etc). Before buying this,I was very sceptical that a 7 inch square cube could produce quality sound, But if you buy one I'm sure that you will be equally amazed at what it pumps out! In summary,if you enjoy high quality sound I think that you will be really pleased with the Jivebox.
Sound and anti distortion is amazing - but can't play classical March 27, 2008 C. Mcdowall (landan) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Pros: Absolutely no distortion regardless of note being played or amount of bass, which is unique. Extreme loudness with perfect clarity. Small size. Cons: Prone to switching itself off; particularly during playback of classical music, most likely due to periods of quiet notes that the player doesn't register and therefore goes into standby. Don't normally write reviews but feel compelled to as this is a great player but is really flawed as it won't play some tracks in your collection that are quiet. The anti-distortion is a great feature and should be present in all docks as it means you can really crank up the volume and not lose any clarity, avoiding the horrible buzz noticeable in other players. So if they sort out the former issue it would be perfect!
