Hi Speed set up! October 12, 2008 G. Davis (Northampton, England) I was considering setting up a wired network (didn't want wireless having seen how slow it can be and health concerns) in my home when I came across these, I had never heard of them before and decided to give them a try. The results were absolutely amazing, I set up the router, plugged these in and that was it! Home network set up literally in seconds with no loss of performance. Best money I have ever spent on computer bits.
Took me less than 30 seconds to set up! October 6, 2008 matsw (Woking, Surrey, UK) I spent hours trying to get a Belkin wireless extender to work but eventually gave up. I took it back and exchanged it for the dLan Highspeed homehub starter pack. It said 1 minute installation on the box, so I set out to prove them wrong. To my surprise, it took 28 seconds from the devices and cables being out of the box to having the PS3 conneted to the internet from the other side of the house. The PS3 was already set up for a wired network, so I just plugged the network cables into the devices and the devices into the power sockets and hey presto it worked. I would like to have bought the wireless option but the price put me off though I might buy one in future now I know how simple it is and how well it works.

Well what can I say about these that hasn't already been said? No i'm not going to talk about my scepticism about plug & play...so many people have mentioned the fact that they are, and they are, simple. The supplied Ethernet Cables match the blue of the plugs, they're quite long about 2 meters I think and good enough for the job. So how simple is it? 1) What's in the box?: you'll find 2 Devolo Plugs, 2 Ethernet Cables, a CD (didn't use), A Quick Diagram showing how to set it up (again didn't need to use) 2) Connecting: (a) Simple, attach one end of the cable into the plug and one end into your router, you'll have a spare next to the one that is already being used. (b) Connect the other cable into the other plug and connect into another device, be it a laptop, a home console or another PC somewhere in another room or even in the same room if it doesn't have wireless capability or the wireless connection isn't that strong. I have this connected to my PS3 upstairs as my PC and router are downstairs. The plugs themselves are not as slim or as big as I was led to believe, if you can't find a spare socket, put it in an extention - they still work. I have my router and the homeplug plugged into the same extention lead. No problems whatsoever. I simply plugged it all in, switched on the PS3 et volia, online in an instant. I don't have any qualms about the speed - haven't noticed any lag or slowdown, downloaded a few demos, movies etc and been a happy chappy ever since. I can't recommend this product enough, a friend of mine was unsure about whether this would work on another Electricity Home Ring, I just told him to borrow mine - result! If only these were pushed more, I know that homeplugs have been around for a while - it's just that not a lot of people know about them and their ease of use. A great product and Devolo offer an excellent customer service (not that I've had the pleasure of requesting any) but if I ever do get stuck, I have heard that they are awesome. So thank you Develo for making a wonderful product and keeping your consumers happy.
AMAZING, GREAT FOR PLAYSTATION ETC September 22, 2008 Vicky D (England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is Brilliant, Amazing!, had a nightmare connecting my Playstation 3 wirelessly, it would not even connect when placed right next to my router. This fab little kit did the trick in 3 steps, 1.Open the box, 2. plug it all in, 3. switch on playsation 3. It connected to internet straight away..! Hooray for Homeplug, But Boo! to Sony for flogging cheap wirelss components in their new console..
Amazing! September 22, 2008 Woosie (Southwest UK) I was a bit skeptical when the box arrived and the installation 'poster' was nothing more than a few pictures of plugs and cables being connected. But it was true (once I had remembered to enable my network card) it worked straight away. Encouraged by this I dumped XP and installed Ubuntu-linux. Ubuntu wouldn't let me open the Devolo CD with the security configuration program on it - a common problem I understand. I got step by step instructions from the (Ubuntu) forum on how to download and install the software from the Devolo site, these worked perfectly (once I'd looked up how to change directory in the linux terminal). So now I feel nice and secure behind my complicated password and I get 65-80 Mbps, even though I'm two floors away from the router in a Victorian house with an odd wiring layout. No more wireless hassle for me!
