I'm at the end of my first year with my Stellar Sabatier knives and have found exactly the same problems. Tips hav broken off, the knife edges have pitted and the handles are in the process of separating away from the tang. Very disappointing performance from what used to be a very reliable name in high quality knives.
Even with the lifetime guarantee I'd give it some thought before purchasing. At the moment I'm negotiating with the supplier as they want the set back before sending another and I only have the one set of knives in my house. Is that no fresh veggies for a fortnight whilst they get around to replacing my set?

After 3 years am now about to send back 3rd set of knives. Quality and standard is poor, blades not only blunt very quickly but easily pit (end up more like a saw blade) and tips break off. Handles also losing coating and coming apart. If buying advise keeping box and receipt to take advantage of lifetime guarantee.

Forget those fancy looking knives you can get. A knife has a very simply purpose which many manufacturers forget. I have owned these for 5 years and I am constantly pleased by them. They are very solid, well balanced, stay sharp and are easy to re-sharpen when they do loose their edge. My mum still has her Sabatier knives and I expect to still have mine in 30 years time. Oh, and as for looks.. I love things to look functional rather than pretty anyway. These fit the bill 100%.
