4 out of 5 stars Good but with reservations   August 8, 2008

This is a nicely styled product though it is a bit chunkier in the flesh than the picture indicates. It comes with 2 AA batteries and once the insulation is removed it goes about setting the time for you; it took about 6 minutes in my case but I guess it depends on the reception where you are. The display is a reasonable size, though people with poor vision may struggle a little. The back-light is activated by the top button and is bright and very effective (nice bright green).

The alarm is easy to set and when sounding it starts quietly and builds - I quite like that as starting at max volume to shock you awake can't be a good start to the day.

Why not five stars? There are two niggles and one annoyance: The button quality could be better (not that it is bad) though it would probably cost more then and the date format is US style. Now for the annoyance - whenever you press a button (except the light) there is a short bleep at full alarm volume. What were they thinking? Does it even need to bleep when you press a button?

To round up then - if you want a compact, stylish and VERY accurate bedside clock that never needs setting, this is for you. If you come to bed after your partner and then decide to change your alarm, look elsewhere!
