| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description When the standard lightbulb was invented, naturally, we applauded. But science means progress - and the world is now looking for alternative ways to light up our homes. This is one of the best we've found. Inside the Sun Jar is a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and three low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in direct sunlight, the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. When it gets dark or lights are turned off, this energy powers the three natural-coloured LED lamps inside the jar. The frosted glass of the jar then diffuses the light, giving the appearance of trapped sunlight.

Romance in a jar October 18, 2008 Anna (London) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I was given a sun jar recently, and it really is absolutely beautiful. There isn't enough light to read by, but the glow it gives is so very comforting and cosy, and for atmospheric mood lighting, I can't imagine anything nicer. It makes a wonderful nightlight - very warm and soothing, and because it doesn't plug into the wall, you don't need to worry about frying your lampshades or wasting electricity. Its being a jar very much adds to the romance of it; almost as if you went on a picnic that day, went into the woods with a jar to catch tadpoles or butterflies and caught the sun instead - really sort of magical. Its being solar powered means it will last for an age, so the initial cost is ultimately well worth it. This is a lovely, lovely little thing, and it's very muchly recommended.
Surprisingly useful October 8, 2008 Martian77 (Brighton UK) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I can't give this 5 stars, because I was honestly hoping for a little more light. I really wanted something to read by, and there is no way this is bright enough. With that in mind though, this has been surprisingly useful. It's dim enough that if my partner is home late I can leave it on the bedside table and still sleep. It does give a welcoming glow left on a windowledge, and is attractive enough to leave on the windowledge to charge up. I've used it as lighting whilst watching TV in an evening. I've even used it to go get logs after dark. It feels a little expensive compared to solar-powered garden lights, which actually give more light I think. But this is a really nicely made and pleasing object that I'm happy to give housespace to!
shine tiny sun! July 28, 2008 Lorna Gilmour (Glasgow, Scotland) 30 out of 31 found this review helpful
I was recently given a sun jar as a birthday present and I love it. It sits in my front window, which gets the sunlight during the day, and many of my neighbours have said how cosy it is to see it glowing away there after dark! I am planning to get one for the back garden now as well, and a couple more as Christmas presents.
Sun Jar June 14, 2008 Surf dude (UK) 43 out of 44 found this review helpful
This is really cool. It would make a great gift for anyone especially the eco-conscious. It looks unusual, is a talking point for guests and it saves on electricity. I might get a few more and make a feature of them. You can even use them outside as they are waterproof.
Nice (if slightly pointless) object December 10, 2007 D. Jackson (UK) 61 out of 61 found this review helpful
This has a very nice feel to it (proper frosted glass, not plastic, and a satisfyingly chunky lid). The glow is orangey, so it's no good for reading etc. but would be really nice to just give some general lighting when outside in the evening at the end of a summer's day, or in a conservatory/garden room, or just on a patio.
