Hmmmm.... could there be issues with the crystal? December 25, 2008 Mr. James Joseph Ollerhead (UK) Given the 2 extremes of opinion in these reviews (and mine tends to veer towards the negative, in particular with M.F. Clayton) I am left wondering whether the mounting of the crystal that diffracts the light which, after all, is the heart of the thing could maybe shift or bend in transit as the effects are nowhere near as spectacular as the most positive review leads you to believe. OK it's pretty, but I was expecting a similar effect to that given by the old-fashioned suspended mirror-balls that you used to get in discos and this is definitely not the case. Maybe suspending a miniature one above it might work -- we have some christmas tree bausbles that look just like that (which was what inspired me to buy the thing after 'er indoors commented on the pretty effect they made during the day when the sun shone on them through the window) so I'll give 'em a try. Overall, a bit underwhelming after unwrapping on Cristmas morning given the cost.
Set lasers to Stunning December 22, 2008 E. C. Carnochan (Dumfries) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Actually I think this is a great little item, although like the original lava lamps I'm sure it isn't for everyone. Given the choice I would have this laserpod any day. Basically this is not a laser show but rather that a mix of carefully blended coloured LED lights which look like a nebula in space. This effect can be changed by interchanging the lenses provided for different types of effects. Do bear in mind though that this *is* a basically a cool lamp - it's not going to make you tea, sing songs or feed the cat!
Waste of time December 9, 2008 M. F. Clayton 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The novelty will wear thin after a few hours. I put mine on ebay 2 days later as it was just gathering dust. I was expecting huge lasers and lights and felt embarrassed when showing my parents and friends. All you get is a few dots on the ceiling that move around every now and again! AVOID!
great lamp October 19, 2007 J. B. Kitching (UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
OMG!!! How amazing can one lamp be? It works best in total darkness and you will be transported to another region of the cosmos! Great to experiment with by putting different glass objects on top of it and watching how the lasers are refracted through, you can create some really interesting shapes. Well worth the price. Is one enough?
Stunning visual experience! September 23, 2005 KMW (England) 26 out of 28 found this review helpful
The Laserpod gives a fantastic display of laser beams and ambient cosmic cloud effects projected around the room. The Laserpod comes with a diffuser which when in place makes the Laserpod into an ambient lamp. Take the diffuser off, the effects are projected onto the walls and ceiling giving a unique visual display. You can choose between two settings on the laserpod, just the red lasers or both lasers and blue led projected clouds together, which in my opinion gives the best display. Although the Laserpod is unique, it is a touch expensive.
