We bought this as a replacement for a different make of health grill. Very very disappointed. It did not heat up to anywhere near a temperature to grill meat but only stewed it. The plates were too far apart to cook anything but v. thick cuts of meat. Finally, after using it for only one month it has been returned as the bolts holding the bottom heating plate have melted away !! +

Lacks punch - More George Formby than Foreman January 30, 2008 R. Wilkes 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Like other reviewers, I bought this as a replacement for one where the non stick surface has worn out as it was heavily used. However, this one takes for ever to heat up, and even on the highest setting doesn't cook properly.
Wasn't I Lucky! January 25, 2008 Mr. John J. Haddleton (Staffordshire, UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Due to ill health - including High Cholesterol and Blood pressure, and having gained over 100 pounds in the last 7 months since I retired, I have had to take drastic dietary choices. One of these was to buy the George Forman Grill. I ordered the Grill, late on Sunday night, and it arrived here at 8am Wednesday morning, in spite of the fact that I had free (non-express) delivery! First Bonus! Second Bonus, is that just 5 days ago I bought this grill at 39.99 (30 pounds off), and I see now, coming back to write this review that it is now back to over 71... Did I get the benefit of some employees mistake, I wonder? The Grill is all I expected it to be - large - and heavy, and - like other people commenting, I find it takes for ever to reach your chosen temperature, and then when opened again to place food in the grill, it takes a very long time to get up to a cooking temperature. As a bit of an engineering 'buff' I took a closer look at the whole system, and found that there was quite a gap between the removeable plates, and the fixed heating elements. I then folded aluminium foil to six thicknesses, the size of the heating element, and replaced the removeable plates, with the foil squashed between the element and the removeable plate........ Perfection! Proves that this grill is poorly designed and finished, and that the gap between the plates and the heater elements is a fault in design. Do not do as I did to correct the fault, it is dangerous!!! just send your grill back to Amazon, as faulty, and get a grill with permanently fixed plates! This grill is no use to anyone. As I got mine so cheaply, I sold it on a car boot sale for 10 pounds more than I paid !! John
Very nice... January 21, 2008 J. Wilkinson (England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my first George Foreman grill and although I only received it today, have used it twice already! I had a toasted sandwich for lunch and grilled chicken and sausage for dinner. Both were gorgeous. The grill plate size is excellent for a family of 4-6. You can easily cook 6 chicken breasts at one time. The time stated in the cooking guide book is frankly just to be ignored. For chicken and sausage it said 7-8 minutes, and we cooked ours for about 30 minutes. If you have things rare, 7-8 minutes would be just about right. The grill plates are very easily removed and just as easy to clean. I also bought the George Foreman cleaning sponges which are ideal for the job. Overall, I found this to be a very nice-looking, very efficient grill. Its surprising how much fat is left in the drip tray when cooking things, but the food doesn't taste dry at all - its still moist and tasty. I would definately recommend this grill to anyone who fancies, like me, starting to cook a little healthier.
