making it one of the better multi-tasking kitchen tools available.
It is a ridged circular heat resistant silicone mat of approx 8" / 20.5 cm diameter which is also dishwasher safe.
As per the manufacturer's details, its purpose is four-fold:-
a) Use instead of a trivet for stable kitchen surface heat
protection.
b) Use under a chopping board or a mixing bowl as an
anti-skid device, for extra safety.
c) Use instead of an oven glove.
d) Use it as an aid to open those stubborn jar lids.
This SUPER item comes in a variety of colours... to mix or match...with any kitchen colour scheme, or just pop it in a drawer - it takes up very little space!
I find it particularly useful for stabilising a bowl when
whisking the cream for 'Nigella's Instant Chocolate Mousse'('Nigella Express'),keeping a carving dish steady when slicing the Sunday roast and prising off that stubborn new strawberry jam jar lid!
