5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Product   May 11, 2008

Very good bit of equipment. Since buying it I have used it regularly - money well spent. The first time I used it I found it immensely painful to use - not unlike holding a flame under my arms. However, I persevered and now there is little or no pain at all and the hair removal is very effective. Far better than shaving, far more cost effective than waxing, no sore skin like you can get with creams. Highly recommended. Dont't buy cheap, buy a decent machine like this one.

3 out of 5 stars What i expected really...   May 1, 2008

I decided to buy an epilator because shaving left my hairs ingrown and disgusting (!!), waxing is too expensive and timeconsuming, also messy if you do it at home, and creams and stuff are more trouble than they're worth. On all these points, the epilator definitely wins.... but boy does it hurt!! People say if you can handle shaving this is no problem, but in my opinion it does hurt a lot more, because each of the hairs is coming out individually. It was a real challenge to get both my legs done, and they do sting a lot afterwards... i also found that the cooling pad had very little effect. But what can i say, hopefully the pain will get less as time goes on, and apart from being quite timconsuming as well, epilation is the best hair removal method for me.
In terms of how this model rates against others, I don't have any experience of other makes but i'm guessing that this one pretty much ticks all the boxes as far as epilation goes.
Hope this helps - a good buy all in all, i'll just have to get used to it!!

This is not a review of the product overall, just how it operates :

This epilator has no internal battery and runs of a 3-prong plug with 6 foot of cable.
Consequently it CANNOT be used in the shower or in a bathroom outfitted with just a 2-prong shaver socket.

Quite why a hair removal device would be designed only for use in bedrooms & living rooms ( etc. ) I do not know, but do not expect running water or privacy - and do expect plenty of hoovering afterwards !

5 out of 5 stars go for it   February 1, 2008

after a lot of thought and reading the reviews for this epilator i decided to go for it and buy one, it just arrived yesterday and i used it, i didnt use the cool pack and only used the starter head for about 10 seconds, i went straight on to the other head and it really does work, if you are used to getting waxed the pain isnt any worse than that, although i must admit i did my legs and bikini line no prob but under arms was a different story i couldnt handle that, but will keep trying. in all if your thinking about getting one think no longer go for it, youll wish you did it sooner, i did

5 out of 5 stars It's not that painful !   January 22, 2008

After reading some of these other reviews I wondered if I had done the right thing ordering an epilator (though all the reviews said anyone thinking about it should go for it - so I did). When it arrived I was actually scared stiff of the thing and what the pain would be like.

I freezed the pack one evening but really didn't use it much. I also followed the advice of another person on here and went straight for the main head and the fast speed - get it over and done with etc - I've never used an epilator before so it was a risky business jumping straight in but it worked. I did it gradually in small sections (strokes) with little stops imbetween.

Either I have a good pain threshold or it really wasn't that bad. However, I must admit on the tops of your legs it could be more painful (there is possibly lots of fine hair there you may not notice and so more to pluck) so I took that a bit more carefully. I did also go over my knees carefully. I've also had a quick little go with the edges of my bikini line and found it OK. Not adventerous enough yet though for the underarms.

Legs came up with very little red bumps just a bit like shaving badly really, bikini line came up with red bumps also but all faded shortly after.

I'm just waiting now to see how long it takes to grow back. The whole reason I wanted an epilator was that I was told your legs tan better on holiday, and last time after shaving with a razor when going on holiday my legs came out in a rash & spots so I hope that this time I go on holiday I should be OK. I was hoping the epilator would not cause a bad reaction on my legs but it did not, as said the little red marks faded away quickly and my legs look smooth, I did also moisturise as advised afterwards.

I've litterally run the epilator all over any areas of unwanted hair (over a day or so) and have got used to the sensation - it does have the good advantage that you can do bits in stages. Obviously when less hair is growing back any pain will be reduced. I must add that I did use mine on about a weeks growth of longish stubble which felt OK but the longer and more hairs on the tops of my legs were a little bit more painfull) so advised not to do it if your hair is really long it may pull harder.

If you are hesitating I would say go for it. Don't be scared of it, and really doing it quick but carefully is a good idea. If you do feel some pain bite a folded clean flannel or something and it's only a quick pain it soon fades.
