Very quiet, but other prob people here haven't commented on... October 3, 2008 G. Turnbull (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I do find this incredibly quiet. You'll always hear a kettle boiling, but it makes very little noise and I was impressed. I didn't mind the idea of an illuminating kettle but have noticed a minor annoyance - while not in use it illuminates blue wiht a few lights inside. Even when it hasn't been used for days, condensation builds up on the see thorugh window inside and on investigation it turns out the water inside the kettle is pretty warm. In fact, the whole bottom of the kettle is pretty wamr which seems to come from teh lights being on constantly and I suspect it uses up a surprinsing amount of energy to generate this much heat. We now turn the kettle off at teh wall when not in use and probelm solved. I realised when buying it that the lights would use electricity when it's not in use, but I'd expected a low power LED, not soemthing that generates so much heat. Still, this niggle aside, it's very quiet and as that's one of it's main selling pooints I'll still give it 3 stars.
Great Looking Stylish Kettle June 2, 2008 T. J. Murray (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
We have owned this for a few months now and have been really pleased with it - completely disagree with the other reviewers comments about the lid. It works fine and looks great - a good buy at this price too!!
Great kettle February 26, 2008 MurlynLAN (England) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle to replace my old 5 Tesco model (I guess there's a lot of them about) and I am glad that I have. The problems described by another reviewer regarding the flimsy must have been fixed as I have not noticed it. The one I have seems to have quite a sturdy top. Fast boil, stylish looks, hidden element and jazzy lights... What more could you ask for?
Russel Hobbs illuminating Kettle - and that's all! June 25, 2007 Anne Jones (Lancashire, UK) 31 out of 33 found this review helpful
I bought the kettle in January and by May the lid had broken due to the fact that it fits so snugly that when you pull the plastic lid handle you need to use such force ours just came off, leaving two big holes in the lid for steam to escape through. Luckily ours is under warranty! Considering it's a 49 kettle (when I bought it) you wouldn't expect such a flimsy lid, my colleague also had this kettle and had the same problem!
Bargain style... June 18, 2007 S Cliffe (UK) 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
OK, so its not a cheap 5 kettle, but thus far it has been a boon. Stylish and compared to some other kettles, relative value for money. The dual-light system is cool at night but at the end of the day it boils water quickly and more quietly than my 5 Tesco one! It looks much better too!
