Shame on you Amazon!! September 26, 2008 Ifor Parry 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for the second time cuz first one the water tank broke in first 2 weeks. The second one amazon sent me a used one trying to make it look new. I was totally apalled!! This will not stop me from further purchases but i will always have suspicion in mind. The machine looks nice and does the job. But the coffee does not stay hot long. I should have taken a video. Was issued a full refund. 1 star!!
don't even think about it August 19, 2008 P. Morrison (Highlands, Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
everyone I work with is no doubt fed up with my moaning about this product- it was such a let down. All these negative comments are true. So, here I am, back on Amazon, looking for a replacement...
Cheap and cheerful July 18, 2008 Ben Sinclair (edinburgh, Scotland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Unlike the impression given by others here, this machine actually works just fine. True, the jug is a bit of a let-down as it doesn't keep the coffee hot for more than 20-30 minutes, but for me that's fine. I use it to refill after that horrible moment when the bottom of my mug becomes visible far too early in the morning. Actually, I've started using a black mug to prevent that effect. It doesn't leak. It's cheap plastic, but it pours without so much as a dribble down the side of the spout as with most glass jugs. It's not pretty, but it's pretty fast. One other fault: the clock LCD is poor quality and can only be seen from certain angles. Who cares, though? I didn't buy it to find out the time, my sundial does that adequately already. 25 quid, better value than most cheapo machines. I mostly got it to tide me over until I can find something I really like, and I'm not regretting anything, man.
RIP Mr Russell, Mr Hobbs. June 8, 2008 Usherette (Cumbria, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Apparently, they were great. Great British inventors. And if their names were on a product, then the buyer -- back in the 1950s -- could be sure of an amalgam of fine engineering and design ingenuity. Well, not any more. This is Taiwanese trash. It clearly never passed a single Quality Audit, nor was it ever designed to: the construction -- and especially, the materials used for this unit's alleged "insulation" -- is so cheap as to make the Recommended Retail Purchase Price look like something the company marketing department dreamt up as an April Fool's joke. RIP Russell Hobbs. Both the founders are long gone and so are the standards to which they aspired. Whilst it's sufficient cause for repulsion that a British brand name once as good as this could have been laid so systematically and cynically to waste, it remains a mystery why Amazon would run the risk of associating its own hard-won reputation by even stocking such junk.
DO NOT BUY January 24, 2008 R. Massey (Belfast - N irelaland) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Please please heed these comments! I bought this for my mum on Christmas as a wee-add on gift! The coffee is luke warm at best...my machine came with no instructions. I emailed the manufacturer twice asking for the instructions...i am still waiting for a reply even acknowledging my email! This is a total waste of your hard earned cash - so be smart and forget this piece of rubbish! I just cannot believe that a company like Amazon would sell such utter such crap! Sadly, I am stuck with a piece junk which would do a better job in my garden as a watering can.
