Amazon.co.uk Review For anyone hesitating over whether to buy an epilator, I would say go for it. I have salon waxed for a few years now and always thought an epilator would be more painful than waxing. I decided to take the plunge. I am so pleased with the results! My legs and underarms are now perfectly smooth and it's easy to do at home. The sensation was a bit strange to get used to at first. I did my bikini line with no problem at all as well. Using the epilator is definitely less painful than waxing.
The good thing about this model, Braun Silk Epil Xpressive, is that it's so versatile. Its Hairlift system gently lifts and removes hair. It even removes short flat lying hairs from the root which gives smooth skin for up to 3 to 4 weeks. Its pivoting head adapts to all body contours and gives thoroughness. Massaging systems stimulate the skin before hair removal which helps to reduce the pain. The smartlight is brilliant for showing up little tiny hairs.
The Braun Silk Epil Xpressive body and face set also includes a Precision head for utmost precision for facial hair, a Narrow Epilation Cap for gentleness for underarm and bikini and a Shaverhead & Trimmer for shaving, trimming and shaping your bikini area.
The Braun Silk epil Xpressive is also rechargeable. It takes just 1 hour to recharge which gives over 35 to 40 minutes of running time. It is also fully washable for maximum hygiene.
I highly recommend this product - definitely worth spending on a more expensive model such as this one. -- Harshini Patel, Amazon.co.uk

Would defintely recommend! July 24, 2008 P. Cronin (Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you get your legs or underarms waxed at a salon regularly then this thing will pay for itself in no time. I found I got a better result the 2nd time I used it. Maybe because I knew what to expect the 2nd time. It works really well under the arms but I'd recommend maybe getting this waxed a few weeks before you try the epilator there as if there is a lot of hair it could really hurt! I only had sparse hair there (as I had waxed a few weeks before it) and it still hurt - but the results are great. It doesn't hurt as bad on the legs though, probably because you can use one hand to stretch the leg. I found the light on it really helpful when looking for any stray hairs afterwards. It works on really short hairs so actually works better than a salon wax and you don't have to wait too long (as in hair wise) before you can use it. This is the 1st Epilator that I've ever owned so I can't comment on how it compares with others. But I would definitely recommend trying this one out.
No more waxing - hurray! July 24, 2008 Maggie B (London UK) I am really pleased with this product. I'd been waxing before but have had a few disappointing ones where half my legs are missed - admittedly as blonde they are hard to see but when you pay 30..! My main worry with this that it would be painful - but it hardly hurts at all. I didn't think it was getting the hairs as it hurt so little, and then I shook it out and saw it had got loads so was very impressed. The pre-epilation wipes seem a bit pointless, I'd much rather have some post-epilation wipes to soothe skin as my legs were a bit pink afterwards. Don't forget to buy the adapter plug if you don't already have one - I didn't think amazon's product specs made that very clear but it is there in the small print. You won't be able to use it without one. Other than that the hardest bit is working out what all the different heads are for, but you do get better results with some that others so worth experiementing - e.g. I thought the precision head better on knees and the massage head better on rest of legs. I'd recommend this to my friends, definitely. Use it 3 times instead of salon waxes and it's paid for itself!
no more waxing for this lady July 19, 2008 Mrs. SIOUXZANA McEWAN (UK) I did loads of reading before buying this particular model. I didn't want the shaver attachment, but I liked the sound of the other heads that lesser models didn't come with. My only complaint is that being new to 'electric shavers' I didn't realise it was a 'two pin' jobby. Quick trip to Sainsbury and 74p later, it was on charge. Good job I read the instructions - If the hairs are too long it hurts more (tested and true!)...so the shaver I didn't want (which comes with a cover to cut to the ideal length) turned out to be the first thing I used. I was a bit nervous so I used the 'first timers' cover to start with. What an odd sensation! It hurts, but it doesn't. Lots of quick sharp prickle sensations. I guess everyone is different. I quickly got brave and went to the 'full on' head. I realised that my werewolf legs (not waxed for weeks) were why it felt like it did. Most of the hairs went in the first pass and when you go back over it (and there's only a few stragglers to get) there was no pain at all. What a doddle. So I reckon that keeping on top of it, maybe weekly, will be pain free. You're meant to go from bottom of leg upwards (in direction of hair growth), but I found myself going up a bit, back down and then up again. The little light was great - amazing how much shadow you make hunkered up over yourself. I see this as an investment...several missed waxes (in assorted places) and this will have paid for itself easily. Now, just got to let the old armpit hairs grow for a couple of days (euw)and then I can have a go at them, too.....magic...go get one.
Big improvement...! July 8, 2008 Nesten Birte (Norway) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
...at least from my very old braun. This one is much faster and strangely enough less painful. Catches more hair in one stroke, wich saves time. My old one was a bit of a test of patience, this one's really quick. Catches the shorter and finer hairs too, leaving legs much smoother. The fact that it's cordless has the obvious advantages - really great. Personally I didn't find the light that important, especially since you can move to get the best light without being obstructed by the cord. But the best thing with it is the cap for underarm epilation. It has finally made it possible for me to also do my underarms - halleluja. I've tried with my old one, and that was frankly too painful - and I'm really not that much of a sissy. The special cap for that purpose prevents too many hairs being pulled out at the same time, which makes it endurable. Piece of advice, though, if you haven't done it before: shave with a razor first, then wait a few days for all the hairs to be the same lenght and no more than 0,5 cm. Long hairs are much more painful to epilate. Also try to pull the skin as tight as possible - difficult on you own, easier with help. Also, you don't have to do it all in one go - the first time I spent a few days. I have very sensitive skin, but get a loss less irritation from this than from ordinary shaving. If it's allowed to recommend other products on this page, then I strongly recommend Paula Begoun's Skin Relief Treatment - lifesaver for me, at least. In sum: great improvement from older versions, great buy - resolved my former frustrations about hair-removal. Yei! (Didnt't come with the cap for presision epilating, as for face, though... Thought it would.)
The best ever July 1, 2008 J. Moorton 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using epilators since they first came onto the market and were very painful to say the least. This is the best ever and I use mine all over. Does not take long to charge and runs for ages. The bonus being that you can use both the razor and epilator heads. The best thing for me is that you hardly have to wait for any regrowth for it to be effective which is excellent
