COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!! April 15, 2008 Rusty Nuts (UK) Dont buy these if your rounded nut is 11-12mm!!! I have a rounded nut on my brake calipers so i thought investing in these would save a trip to my local garage, unfortunately the 11mm is too small and the 1/2 inch is too big!!!!! the add on set does not seem to offer a size in between?????? Good idea but baffled at irwins strange sized sockets + a larger square drive fitting would have been more useful for flimsy ratchets!!!!!
Worked Great For Me January 11, 2008 E. Freeman (Near Loch Ness, Scotland) I just bought this set as I was trying to remove some deeply recessed rusty 10mm (M6) nuts under my car. As another reviewer said, the 10mm one didn't fit, but the smaller one did and in fact gripped the nut so tightly that the stud broke! I then used it on my quad bike with good results. After working on vehicles for over 40 years, I wish I'd had this set years ago. I may buy the expansion set.
A Decent Piece of Kit, Well Worth the Money December 5, 2007 Mr. G. V. Paul (Essex, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had been working for 3 days on my car trying to remove some old rusted nuts and bolts which would not budge, I tried a nut splitter which just crushed them , I tried some mole grips which rounded off the edges, spanners, even bashed an undersized socket on by the time I had finished the nuts were just a mangled mess that wouldn't move, Then I saw these and thought i'd give it a go and bought them from AMAZON (the cheapest by far) and within 2 minutes I had the nuts off. Oh and if you were wondering the nuts i had were origianlly 12mm and 14mm, these worked a treat.
Difficult to judge July 10, 2007 Mr. W. D. Hawes 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the set in order to use the 10mm socket on a rounded bolt head. Unfortunately, the 10mm socket does not actually appear to be 10mm, i.e. it's too small to go over a 10mm bolt head! I had thought this was due to the design of the sockets, but apparently not as the 11mm one seems to be 11mm and so on. The 10mm one is more like 9mm. So effectively this set is absolutely no good for removing a 10mm bolt. The very least I would expect is for the sizes to be as advertised.
