I bought one of these as an alternative to a cast iron casserole dish. I was a little disappointed with the fitting of the lids on all of the cast iron dishes I had seen and it was my wife that suggested that I look at the 'Bean Pot'. The lid fitted well and as it was half price at the store we were in, I decided to take a chance and bought one in orange. After using it for only just a month or so, I have to say that I absolutely love it. The quality of finish is excellent as is the case with the other Le Creuset 'poterie' items we have in our kitchen. It really is and does what it says in all the advertising blurb. It stays looking as new, with any burned on food washing away without any fuss, or hard work. It cooks casseroles, stews and other hot pot dishes effortlessly, then looks good on the dining table whilst serving. The only gripe I have is that it could do with being a wee bit larger. 4 Litres is just about large enough for a family of 4 or 5, but if you are entertaining guests, then it may be a bit on the small side (a bit like the Le Creuset teapot!). I am still looking out for a decent, larger cast iron casserole dish, but will still have plenty of uses for the bean pot. Bottom line is, this is a great pot and if you can find one at half retail price, then grab it.
