Questionable quality March 28, 2008 M. P. M. Stewart (YEOVIL, Somerset United Kingdom) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
After using this just a few times it has broken down. The lights work and it appears to heat-up, and when you press the floor button the pump sounds - but no steam comes out. So not very impressed!
Buyers Beware! March 27, 2008 A. Davies (Shropshire) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Be warned! Although the mop is great for cleaning tiled floors (OK on carpets), this is the second mop I have had in the last three years. Both broke down just after the year's warranty. I contacted Hometek who told me that because I live in an area of hard water I should have used distilled water in the resevoir. They now sell the product with crystals to compensate for this, so it is obviously a problem that has been encountered before. As the product was out of warranty Hometek were not interested - tough luck basically!
Steam mop March 24, 2008 K. Gemmill (West Midlands) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am not one to usually write reviews but I'm so impressed with this product. I first saw it demonstrated at the Good Food Show and after several months took the plunge and bought it. So easy to use, lifts even stubborn marks and the floor dries within a few minutes - no more screaming at the family to stay off the floor until it dries. It really is the best purchase that I've made in a long time and I've recommended it to everyone I know. If you have a lot of tiled floors (I also use mine on a laminate floor) don't think twice - life will be a lot easier!
Brilliant! Confused by the bad reviews. March 7, 2008 L. Coull (Scotland) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I have three dogs, and I bought this as I have to clean my tiled kitchen floor at least three times a day, and worry about pet smells (one dog is a bit old and sometimes piddles.) I found this steam mop to be perfect. My floor dries in seconds, by the time I have moved to the other side of the kitchen the tiles and grout are bone dry. It gets rid of the ingrained dirt in the grout, leaving it the original pale grey. The steam sterilises everything it comes in contact with. You can still move the mop when the blue light is on - and I only go slowly over particularly dirty areas. I like this so much I have bought two - one for our holiday home. But do your self a favour and buy the pads from eBay :) The blue ones are far more absorbent and MUCH cheaper.... 5.99 for three.
Simple but impressive February 16, 2008 Julian Browne (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
It comes in a relatively small box - three parts for the handle, a water bottle and the base unit - and fits together in a few minutes. Fill up the bottle with boiled water (recommended so you don't get scale build up), switch it on, and wait another couple of minutes for the lights to come on. I have to say the first time I turned it on I was sure it was broken. It took ages for the pump to suck the water through - I'd recommend jiggling it a little to help the flow. Once it's going though there's a satisfying 'pssssh' noise as the steam flows through the pad. It cleans very well indeed and the pads get very grimy so definitely buy the version with spare pads (I get through three doing one floor). I give it four stars, not five, just because I think the steam could be a little more powerful (you have to glide a bit too slowly to get maximum effect) and the power cable doesn't reach as far as I'd like - granted my kitchen is quite big, but my vacuum reaches so I don't see why this shouldn't. Don't let that put you off though. Once you get used to it, it's just like a mop to use, and far more effective at cleaning linoleum and hardwood floors.
