Product Description The Sonic Fox Repeller incorporates a PIR (Passive Infra-Red) Detection System which constantly monitors a fan shaped area in front of the unit up to a maximum distance of 12 metres. The protected area is over 220 metres of unobstructed space. The Sonic Fox Repeller detects animals moving into this area and triggers a 25 second burst on continuously variable ultrasound to repel them. Simultaneously the LED indicator at the front of the unit signals that it is now active. The Sonic Fox Repeller is powered by six 1.5v alkaline batteries. Battery power is conserved by the PIR system, which allows the unit to remain on stand-by between activation periods, so maximising battery power. The Test Button at the front of the unit lowers the signal frequency to a clearly audible range, enabling you to check that the Sonic Fox Repeller is functioning and, in effect, hear a similar sonic burst to that which deters foxes. The Sonic Fox Repeller can be easily set up in a variety of situations and at the optimum height using the various stand options detailed. The unit is weather-resistant.

Useless gadget for fox repellent. April 3, 2008 headless chicken (UK) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is a waste of money. The "inaudible" sonic deterrent was audible even to an old man like me. I bought one for a friend and her grandchildren asked what the funny noise was. Obviously, the frequency was not out of their hearing range. In my garden, the foxes were neither interested nor deterred. I wrote to the suppliers (Primrose) asking for advice on siting and efficacy. I got no response. I tried again. Still no response. The repeller sat silent and useless as a fox made off with the head of one of my chickens. I repeat, a waste of time and money.
Possibly the worst fox deterent ever! June 1, 2007 Valkirk (London, England) 32 out of 33 found this review helpful
Having had this product in use for nearly 3 months now I can confirm that in actual fact if anything it has seemed to make my garden more of a target for the Foxes as I think they are actually intrigued by the noise. I would regularly go into the garden in the morning and find a fox had calmly sat and eaten its way through rubbish directly infront of the deterent and then marked the territory before being on its way. Having had all my new plants dug up last night right by the deterrent I would warn anyone thinking of purchasing this to go for something else. The Fox Project lists some notable methods that work including the Water Sprayer (Scarecrow) and Get Off My Garden and Scoot chemical repellants.
