Prestige Glass Kettle January 23, 2008 R. Power I've had this kettle four years and am just about to replace it because the lid has broken. I would have given it five stars otherwise. I experienced none of the problems of other users and the kettle is very attractive. In buying a new kettle I am worried about taking any notice of customer reviews like these as they all seem so varied. Oh well, maybe I'll just get another one of these!
An Expensive Mistake May 30, 2007 John D. Storer (Boston) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Plus points: It looks good on the box Minus points: Ooo ... where do we begin ... fiddly lid which is difficult to close; filter gets in the way when closing lid; rocks like a mad thing when boiling; has to be cleaned every day if you live in a hard water area, otherwise kettle looks awful; have to hold handle in what feels like an unsafe manner to avoid getting hand scalded by steam; If boiling for one person, you have to tip the kettle so far forwards that hot steam snakes back to your hand; has to be emptied after use to avoid unsightly water marks. Its only with us until we find something better (which may not be too difficult)
Excellent May 30, 2007 Mr. D. Johnson (Lincoln, Mersyside United Kingdom) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
What more could you ask for? It boils water quickly, quiet and looks good. This is the best kettle ive had (I drink alot of tea), the only problem is than i live in a hard water area, so it needs descaling once every two weeks, but the effort is definately worth it! Buy it!
not good November 15, 2004 32 out of 32 found this review helpful
This kettle looks good when you first get it.Just dont use it and it may be ok, i had mine a week when all the paint on the base started to peel, it shakes like hell on the base and it gets a bit hot on your hands when pouring. All in all not good.
Very unimpressed! September 30, 2003 42 out of 42 found this review helpful
This was the 3rd glass kettle I'd had (the first 2 were a different brand and the handles got so hot they burnt when pouring). Unfortunately, although this one doesn't burn when pouring, it is very difficult to fill, it dribbles, it rocks on it's base when boiling. It is very noisy and slow to boil. I live in a soft water area, but it still silts up in a couple of weeks. The paint on the lid bubbled up and began to peel in the first few weeks, and now looks dreadful, and to top all that, it gave up the ghost yesterday and blew the main trip in the house - so after less than 6 months it is now totally dead, and I am kettle shopping for the 3rd time in less than 1 year. Don't buy it!
