 Doesn't whistle December 2, 2008

We were after a kettle that didnt have a latched lid because we constantly break them, so when we saw this thought brilliant and its Le Creuset as well. We have had it about 1 month now and the whistle packed in about 2 weeks and steam now escapes from around the lid, very disappointing luckily we got when Amazon ran an offer so it only cost 25.

We have had ours for just 4 years. Whistle packed up very soon, but now it is rusting from the inside out. Le Creuset informed me that I should empty this kettle after each use! If you leave water in it is at risk of rusting. Apparently this is in the care and use instructions, not surprisingly 4 years on I can't check this.

Mine's a grey one, really stylish and so practical. The shape (wide base) means the water heats up very quickly. If you are able to use it on an induction hob then you will find it boils water quicker than an electric kettle (saving energy). The whistle on mine works perfectly well, and it pours perfectly (but if you OVER-FILL the kettle, past the max indicator then you could have problems). Mine sits on the hob almost permanently, looks nice and no messy electric cables cluttering up the work space.
