 Prestige kettle floods - had two of them August 3, 2008

Prestige 50453 Kettle.
Worked fine for 12 months then started to flood. Emailed Meyer and was sent another, this one too lasted 12 months. When you came to use it, it was standing in large puddle of water. It is absolute rubbish. I told the Customer Services Representative at Meyer that it is obviously an inherent fault, which means in reality that they should keep replacing the kettle, but to no avail. The law now protects the consumer for up to 6 years for an inherent fault in goods.

Have rung up again and was told this fault was in a batch from the year 2005, which, if you look on the base of your kettle, you will see the date stamped on it. Many of you have bought the kettles in 2006 and 2007, it would interesting to know what the date was on the bottom of the kettle.
Anyway, this is one to steer clear of.

This kettle looks great but I soon found the top opening was pretty narrow and the catch on the lid would stick every now and again so it would not close. I would have to push it across manually to close it. The kettle is really noisy as it boils and it now leaks so needs replacing. It was a gift from my mother so I did not read any reviews on it but had I done I would certainly not have purchased it because everything people are writing about it is true!

DO NOT BUY THIS KETTLE. I too had to go and buy a new kettle, after using this one for about 12 months it started to leak.

I too have this Kettle and the same problem as many others! Looks fab and worked great until recently.I've owned it nearly 2 yrs and have had no problems,until it started leaking at the bottom.I'm was looking for another the same thinking mine was a one off,but reviews have changed my mind.

chose this kettle two years ago along with the matching toaster (and coffee maker) and was totally thrilled with them all, they all look very stylish and I thought this to be the sexiest kettle I've ever owned! However, the toaster gave up the ghost fairly quickly (one of the heating elements stopped working and so it just toasted one side at a time). The kettle has been fab for two years but it recently started leaking (as described in most of the other reviews). I am incredibly disappointed as it's quite difficult to find a kettle that is both aesthetic AND works well. I was going to order another but seeing as this has been rated so poorly by so many other users (and the leaking is so common) I'm on the hunt for something different.
