Excellent product with a great service December 12, 2008 LadyTinTin (Stockport, UK) I have to give credit to Morphy Richards where due. Having had the kettle for over 3 years it has been used many times. Some of the other comments complain about a plastic filter located at the top of the kettle which falls off if the kettle isn't filled correctly but so what it can be put back on very easily or used without it.The ergonomic design makes it a great kettle and when its powered on it looks even better if you're into electric blue. Unfortunately the kettle packed up this week. Having sent an email to the Morphy Richards customer careline they identified it was out of warranty but offered me a replacement to the newer model at a VERY much reduced price. Their help line were very helpful, courteous it wasn't a premium number as per most consumer help lines and overall the service has been excellent. Rock on Morphy Richards.
AVOID MORPHY RICHARDS August 23, 2008 L. C. Brown I purchased the Illuma Kettle in 2006.This kettle has had to be replaced twice. The first one did no longer light up and the flimsy filter broke. The second one has again broken. Morphy Richards Customer Services made ME feel bad ,about their very poor design, and even worse workmanship. The Guarantee does not expire until next month ,but they will only replace if i pay them another 20+pounds for a kettle that looks lovely(when the lights do work)but is very poorly designed and not durable enough to carry the a 2year Guarentee in the first place.ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD,sums up my honest opinion of this product.I would never make a purchase from Morphy Richards again.
It is a fancy looking thing to watch... June 28, 2008 Ms. G. C. Letson (Hebden Bridge, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
And it boils rapidly. Noise and other such random things are not a big deal to me. I don't sweat the small stuff, man! But if it is silent kettle you want, then this one isn't. I can see how this kettle could cause problems for those that have shallow sink basins, as the spout is glass and therefore quite fragile. Our sink is very deep and our faucet is high, so filling the kettle through the spout (without needing to open the lid) is easy and there is no mess. Pouring is easy, too. I quite like this kettle. It works for our household, but if you have a small sink or a low faucet, it is probably best to avoid and to look into another. However, having had this kettle for some months now, I am quite pleased with it.
complete waste of money February 18, 2008 Ms. N. Hussain (uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
we bought this kettle in feb 2006 from discount domestic appliaces for 40 pounds we have only used it for one year and it no longer works, even the cheapest kettles last longer than a year. yes the botton to open the kettle is useless, there are gaps at the bottom that allows water the to get into the electrics to heat kettle. cant believe the design of this kettle, it could not be more wrong.
Looks Deceive December 29, 2007 Brian of Wiggin (Preston, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this kettle on the basis that it looked good and I like to be able to see the water boiling. Having tried it I can only assume the designer never actually used it. The kettle lid will not stay open on its own; you have to keep pressing the button. Also, it does not open fully and therefore you have a very small gap through which to pour the water. Half the time it goes into the kettle through the filter which defeats the object of a filter (which, incidentally, is very hard to refit when removed). Certainly one to avoid if you have any infirmity in your hands. HTH
