Pretty good but could be better September 18, 2008 Claire (Norfolk, United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle (43553) from my local Netto about two months ago and it cost 20. Overall, I am quite pleased with it, it does boil quite quickly and holds a lot of water which can be useful at times. The added water filter feature is a bonus as it means that I can keep my Brita filter in the fridge now. The water does filter through quite quickly and it's easy to be economical with how much you boil; one filter full is enough for two big mugs. However! I am experiencing some problems when pouring; there is a knack to it and I obviously haven't mastered it yet ;) as water does leak from the spout when pouring and could be very dangerous. I think that this is made worse when the kettle is full so I have learnt to boil only what I want to use, which isn't a bad thing really. The illumination is a nice feature but certainly not worth basing your choice on. I would recommend this kettle at the price I paid for it, certainly don't spend much more as the leaking is a pain. Also worth noting is that this kettle is very heavy even when only half full.

This is the third Morphy Richards light up water filter kettle we have had in the last couple of years. I bought one when they 1st came out, it was the previous design and it looked so cool, i was thrilled! But.... It started leaking from the on/off switch after 6 months, so we phoned Morphy Richards who were very pleasant to deal with, and sent a replacement straight away (of the same model) we received it the same week! 6 months later and it sometimes wouldn't switch on as well as again leaking, this time from the plastic/metal seam, on closer inspection we noticed that the element had actually started to burn through the bottom! So back on the phone to Morphy Richard's, who again were very nice and assured us we would get a replacement, after a couple of months and several phone calls, we did get the next model up, the one shown. It is extremely heavy, even without water, my mother whom is disabled cant lift it, it is very slow filtering the water, and again after a few months, it has began leaking boiling water, this time when you lift and pour it, at first I thought it might be me not waiting for the water to filter, but even if you havent just put the water in, it still leaks, and it is getting worse. It is such a shame as I am now looking for another kettle, hopefully one that lights up, as it really brightens the kitchen up at night, but I dont think i will be buying Morphy Richards again.

I had the previous morphy richards filter and needed an upgrade. I choose this one and it is much better than the first one. It looks nicer, pours better with little leaks. You can also boil and filter at the same time which is great as most filter kettles take ages to filter before you can boil.
