| Customer Reviews:
We've had no problems with ours. September 12, 2008 Luzblah (Rutland, UK) This kettle is great. We haven't experienced any "bad tastes" of any sort and we've had this kettle for nearly 2 years! We got it brought as a moving in present, and although its not the greatest looker its functional. We're tea-aholics and needless to say its seen a lot of use and is still (touch wood) in good working order. No problems. My family and i have had terrible trouble with kettles in the past and this one has proven the best with great longitivity. I suspect that those who said it "tasted funny" most likely got so used to the furry bad taste of they're old kettle that the clean water they were boiling tasted funny. Just do a google of "Bad Taste New Kettle". Its a common complaint for all new kettles.
Fantastic Kettle - Absolutely no 'Funny Taste' July 16, 2008 D. Crowley (Hertfordshire UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have just purchased this kettle and the water tastes absolutely fine. The instructions do tell you to boil and rinse the kettle three times before use, which I did. I wonder if those disappointed with theirs actually read the instructions and adhered to them...... The kettle is quite heavy when full, so I would not recommend it for anyone who is elderly but it looks great and boils a lot quicker that our old kettle. Added advantage is that when you switch this on to boil, it actually does. My old kettle switched itself off at least three times before it would stay on and boil. I have no complaints about this kettle and would happily recommend it to my friends - in fact, I have!
Funny taste January 11, 2008 Judy (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
we also bought this kettle for the design and found that the water tasted distinctly funny - chemical and so strongly that it was undrinkable. Took it back. I don't know what is leaking into the water from the product but it is definitely something and doubtless something harmful. Would advise strongly not to buy. We took ours back.
Funny taste February 23, 2007 Morficles (Lancs, UK) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I also purchased this kettle late last year and experienced the same funny taste from the water. I emailed Delonghi customer services and they advised me to take it back. Who keeps packaging from a kettle for more than two or three days? Suffice to say I could not get it exchanged. I persisted for about a month or so before I purchased another kettle.
Funny Taste - not unique to this kettle November 16, 2006 Tiddy Dawn (Wallington, England) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle from a high street store in July 06. It looks very stylish in my kitchen with the matching toaster. As previous reviews have stated for the same model albeit different colour, there is a funny taste to the water, especially if it has been boiled more than once. I am in the process of contacting the manufacturers as I don't believe, and subsequent reviews prove, that this is not just a one off. One reviewer said that the taste evenually went after a couple of months. It would be interesting to hear what Delonghi have to say about this although one reviwer said that they had received no reply.
