Ticks all the boxes! December 24, 2008 Richard D. Sivyer Have recently bought the Breville Blue Ice Jug Kettle. Firstly, it looks very stylish. It has a marvellous "flip-top" lid which opens at the touch of a button - so easily filled. Rapid boil and great for water saving with exact per-cup measurement on front of kettle. The "electric" blue light which runs around the kettle is really innovative and there is a well-designed paddle shaped on/off switch. It really does tick all the boxes - and I am a fussy kettle owner!!
Great and looks cool October 29, 2008 A. Hadwin (UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Ordered this as it looks good, wanted a kettle with good reviews and at a good price. I'm well chuffed with this purchase!!!!! Takes no time at all to boil a full kettle or a few cups. I'm not put off at all by the noice it makes and wouldn't say it was that loud, although i can see why people might say that it is. The kettle looks great and the blue light is a good gimmick. The blue light is even visible during the day. Note that the kettle is hardened plastic and not glass. You'd think that by looking at it that it is glass and really looks well made. No spills, no drips, just as you'd expect. Nothing negative to say and full of praises!
On my third Blue Ice kettle October 20, 2008 Jerry W (UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Super kettle as it looks good, boils fast and pours well (we've had some awful pourers in the past). Unfortunately the 1st one purchased started to leak through the base was returned to John Lewis who happily gave us a replacement. No 2 developed the same leak after 3 months. Why us? John Lewis told us all makes and models get returned for various reasons but this one was no worse than any other. We thought we'd get a different make this time but looked at all the kettles on display and still ended up taking a Blue Ice. Let's hope 3rd time lucky.
I love this kettle. October 14, 2008 CAZ (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased this kettle two days ago from Comet. (Would have got it from Amazon, which was cheaper, but husband had a credit note.) I had used a gas stove top kettle for years, and I cannot believe how fast this kettle boils. When boiling for two cups, I hardly have enough time to get the sugar in the cups before it's done. My main reason for choosing this kettle was cutting down on water wastage, (on my husband's part, who would fill the old kettle to the top just for one cup), But he will need to make me a few more cups of tea before I can say that it has worked. In reference to the other reviewer's comments about the water drip, and electrics; I just went to see if my kettle had the same problem. My kettle did have some drips on the base. I wiped these off, then I filled the kettle again to different levels, I poured fast, slow etc, over and over again, keeping my eye on the spout. I tried really hard to get a dribble or a drip, but I couldn't, no matter what I did. So the design of the spout (for me) is ruled out, and that left the question of how the water got onto the base. I realized after more experimentation, that it was caused when filling, then pulling the kettle away whilst the tap is still dripping, (onto the side). So thank you to the previous reviewer, now I shall always fully turn of the tap before removing the kettle from under it, and hopefully I will not have to endure any kitchen explosions any time soon. One final note; If you live in a hard water area, like I do, your lovely clear plastic will have a very fine film of lime-scale within two days of use. So be prepared for more regular de-scaling. In summing up, I highly recommend this kettle. It's fast. It's environmentally friendly. It looks stunning. (Especially during use, which the online photos don't really show). You'll be glad you bought this one.
