Don't waste your money on this May 4, 2008 M. G. Austin (Manchester, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Nice heavy feel but within a few weeks of purchase the viewing window was completely scuffed up and showing early indications of cracking. Now two years after purchase, with normal family usage, the kettle leaks when more than one third full. If I leave it full when I to bed, the kitchen worktop is soaking wet by the morning. Like so many other reviewers, I bought this to match the toaster. The toaster is great, a design icon and gives every indication that it will be around longer that its owner! The kettle on the other hand was a foolish waste of money. I feel stupid for buying on brand name alone - don't make the same mistake I did. I have just bought a replacement kettle on Amazon and it is not a DUALIT!
Iconic style yet no substance April 23, 2008 A. Field 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I too fell into the trap of buying a Dualit kettle to match our toaster. Similar story to everyone else here, just under two years and outside of the warranty the water level has cracked and there is always a pool of water on the base plate. I contacted Dualit and was told the best they could offer me was 25% off of the same kettle again, meaning that I would have to pay 41.25 for a product that they are only willing to support for a year. This seems to be a known fault and there wasn't any admission of this and no offer of a replacement. Appalling customer service to match an equally appalling product. Please do not buy this kettle a 5 kettle from a leading supermarket would probably last longer!
on going problems March 11, 2008 S.Maher (epsom, surrey United Kingdom) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We got our first one of these in sep 2006, having decided to splash out a bit and put on our wedding list.In less than 6 months the side windows had cracked and a loud bang meant the base unit had died. To be fair dualit replaced this one without question, and we received number 2.This then caused my kitchen to trip out in november, then the kettle would not heat, even though the power light was on. After having to return number 2 kettle (apparently will get postage back with receipt of posting), have been sent model 72400.Will see how get on with this one as reviews that I have read show to have updated features. However at no point have I had a proper sorry, explanation, or advice that I was being sent a different design,Only an email saying how every kettle is tested to work before leaving tha factory. Well my previous two obviously weren't, and I am fed up that I put what should have been a superior quality, long lasting item on my wedding list, and been rewarded with nothing more than a headache.
Guaranteed to leak after one year March 7, 2008 Lloyd G (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this originally 2 years ago. The seal around the water level window stared to leak leaving a puddle around it. Returned it and received a replacement. With this one the transparent plastic has developed fine cracks in it (can't take the heat) and is again leaking - now out of guarantee. I bought Dualit for quality and style. I prefer paying more for something that lasts and hate having to throw things away. Greatly disappointed that Dualit have let us down.
Great apart from the leak "Dualit 72022"!!!!!! February 4, 2008 A. Bistacchi (UK) It looks like I've been lucky to get three years use out of my kettle before the leak started. Even though this is still not acceptable but when it comes to a replacement I'll probably get the new 72400 and hope the have resolved the problems!!!
