Extremely Poor Quality and Overpriced Kettle November 23, 2008

I have had two of these kettles and they have both had different faults, this leads me to believe that i was not just unlucky with the particular item i had purchased, but these kettles are of very poor quality.The first kettle the screw washers eroded within a week of purchase and the handle fell off the lid, however i tried to screw the lid back on the screws kept falling off inside the kettle, immediately i put the lid back on. The replacement kettle has lasted me for 4 months and has now ceased to work, the red light goes on when the item is switched on but the kettle will not boil. I will never purchase another Kenwood item again, and would urge anyone is is considering buying this particular item not to bother.

This product doesn't deserve even one star!!
The day I threw away the box of my SJ666 kettle (after 2 weeks) was the day the light went out & the 2 stage illumination has ceased to work ever since! It's current but more irritating problem is the faulty on switch. Several times over the past few days I've gone to fill up my mug only to find the water is still cold! I also recently noticed that the handle's "metallic" coating is peeling off. 4 months have now passed since I purchased it &(as soon as I've finished writing this) I'm going to bin it & replace with a non-Kenwood model. This was NOT a maltreated kettle. SJ666 is just shocking quality from a well known brand. The 2-stage illumination technology is rubbish, design material is rubbish & the switch to actually get the kettle to do its job.....well, it's rubbish!!! Don't waste your money, look elsewhere.

I HAVE MANY OTHER KENWOOD PRODUCTS SO THOUGHT I WOULD BUY THE SJ666 KETTLE TO COMPLIMENT THESE. WHAT A MISTAKE. THE FIRST ONE BROKE WITHIN 2 WEEKS AND THE REPLACEMENT LASTED 4 WEEKS.THIS HAS NOW BEEN CONSIGNED TO THE DUSTBIN AND WILL NOT BE REPLACED BY ANOTHER KENWOOD KETTLE.
