style or substance? January 30, 2008 monkeymusic (uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Okay this may not be the most practical kettle on the market. it is heavy and does take a little longer to boil. However it is well made, durable and looks fantastic in any modern kitchen. If you like Alessi products and want to continue the look then this kettle is worth the investment!
Expensive and dangerous December 28, 2007 R. Loaring (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
We were given this toaster as a house warming gift and although it looks very nice and is a style-icon I much preferred my old kettle which had everything I expect from a kettle (rapid boil, water level mark, heat resistant) Pros: - Looks nice Cons: - Takes a long time to boil - Kettle is heavy, especially when full - No water level mark so yuo don't know how much water is in the kettle unless you take the lid off; as the kettle itself is so heavy you can't judge by the weight of it! - Base is quite big in circumference so takes up alot of space on your kitchen top - Chrome heats up and can easily burn your skin if you touch it which in my opinion is dangerous (especially for children) - Water often splurts out of the spout as you pour the kettle after boiling which has led to me being scalded a couple of times - Expensive I wouldn't buy this kettle and I wish it would break so I could get rid of it - unfortuantely my husband really likes it so he won't let me get out my old kettle, even though he doesn't make the tea!!!
Short life span June 27, 2006 C. Williamson (UK) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
Ours broke after less than a year and the shop replaced it. The new one broke (different problem) after a further 1.5 years and Alessi do not reply to our correspondence asking how to fix it. Bad buy, given the price!
