Don't waste your money June 4, 2008 ms.glug Cannot be as generous as piglet. What do Italians know about kettles - obviously nothing. (I should have known that as I know they don't use them). Awkward to lift even when empty and very heavy. Impossible to refill through the spout. The lid is difficult to remove in order to fill the kettle, especially when it's just boiled and you need to boil more water because it jams. And the whole thing gets boiling hot on the outside when used, awkward at the best of times and dangerous with children about. Turn it on and you'd be forgiven for thinking a helicopter was landing in your back garden. The gauge is difficult to read - not a minor point. There's a piece of clear plastic which makes it look like there's water in there when there isn't - my mother nearly boiled it dry! And a terrible pourer. It splashes everywhere. And although it looks retro and quite solid in the pictures, the on/off switch actually feels flimsy and cheap and it's constantly grubby (especially as it's so difficult to fill and dribbles while you pour). And the limescale filter allows huge chunks of limescale through into your tea (or the baby's bottle as the case may be). I'm going to have to buy another one. I can't give it any credit for lasting more than a year as all my previous kettles have and I bought it so it would look nice in my kitchen, not because there was anything wrong with my old one. Annoyed, annoyed, annoying!
Stylish to start with, now leaky, grubby and annoying April 3, 2008 Piglet Wiglet (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I did a lot of research before choosing this kettle and thought I found the worst kettle ever manufactured, after reading other reviews I could be wrong and it is just one of the worst. Faults;- Not a fast boil but slow and noisy; cream exterior hell to keep clean and now looks old and grubby after only a year; cannot fill to capacity or leaks through the water gauge this started happening after about 3 months; worst water filter I have ever known; gauge is difficult to read as handle is in the way but that is a minor quibble; handle is awkward and is even more difficult to get last dregs of water out if you are smaller or more petite person Good points:-Do not have to fill the kettle up to make one cuppa; has lasted longer than I thought it would. Advice - When looking for a new kettle, do not make one your criteria points 'to match kitchen', because I did this and ended up with the DeLonghi KBE3014-2. Have given it two stars because it lasted over a year and after reading some reviews here I think I should be grateful!
