bang, crack, wallop, and appalling after-sales service to boot :0( August 28, 2008 Justin Smith (Ipswich, UK) Our Dualit 72300 kettle is no more. At the ripe old age of 17 months, it is a dead kettle, gone to the kettle place in the sky. Assisted on its way by an explosion, cracked base and rude customer (non-)support. AVOID DUALIT KETTLES. Their toasters are good, but AVOID THE KETTLES!!!
Hard Water areas March 14, 2008 Call me Ishmael 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The dualit viewing window does crack very easily if you fill your kettle with cold water again after it just boiled, which is a major design fault. However all kettles that have viewing windows or gauges leak around the mouldings and fittings if you your have to descale them, which if you live in a Hard water area like London you'll have to do once a month (unless you filter the water beforehand). They do eventually stop leaking once the limescale has blocked the leak again but that is usually a good indicator that its time for another descaling.
Disappointing February 6, 2008 A. Thompson (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This kettle has been the worst kettle we have ever had. The kettle is always leaking and there is always water around the base, and similar to other reviews have found my whole work top covered in water in the morning. I cant believe that an organisation that has a reputation for quality has sold a shoddy appliance and they are not cheap! Other products have been great from them.
Info on Dualit kettles December 28, 2007 Wise old owl (England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Yes this Dualit kettle does give trouble. The solution is to buy the other Dualit kettle which does not have a window and is all chrome. It works faultlessly. I was told by the retailer that the window kettle is mass produced abroad to a price, but the all metal option is from their standard ( British hand-made?) range. From memory the all metal, chrome variety is about 70. Good luck.
Mine leaked too, so did the replacement December 26, 2007 jonwinter (Manchester UK) My Dualit kettle started leaking after 6 months too, but not from the window, mine started leaking steam from around the handle area! I took it back and got it repleaced, and found the new one had the more traditional leak from the window instead. This was 4 years ago...perhaps more recent models don't have this problem, but I'd recommend getting something else even if it doesn't match your toaster...
