Poor Performance Kettle November 24, 2008 C. Snaddon (Middlesex UK) I brought this Kettle in Sept 07 and within a year it had started leaking out of the sides when pouring, very dangerous. I contacted Kenwood and they kindly replaced it with another kettle but the same model. Now in November 08 I have had to contact Kenwood again. This time the kettle will not boil if you fill it over 1.2l it just presents you with luke warm water and you have to throw away some water and start again. Secondly the Beep which goes off when it has boiled goes on and on and on until you remove it from the base. I have to say Kenwood have been fantastic on both occasions. They simply take details and send you a replacement. Once you have received it they send you pre-paid stickers and you arrange for DHL to collect it at your convenience. This time though I have chosen a different kettle as a replacement!!! So to sum up excellent Customer Service but really awful kettle - choose a different one.
Awful kettle - not recommended February 5, 2008 J. Weight (Kent, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the kettle that never boils !!! As soon as you fill it over the 1.2 lt mark, it automatically goes into simmer and takes 5 or more attempts to make it boil. Also, my dog goes potty every time the beeper goes and it goes often ... when you put kettle on stand, when you switch on, when it reaches temp and then it goes onto permanent beep when it feels like it and nothing is happening. This kettle is going in the bin where it belongs. It is Awful.
Worked for the weekend! January 10, 2008 exercise mad! (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Was initially very pleased with the look & performance of this kettle. After the weekend however it has broken! It reaches boiling point & carries on going. Couldnt even use the switch to turn it off! So for time being until I get it switched/replaced with a different model I have to have the kettle on the worktop next to the base. To boil, put on the base and get ready to remove! Coloured lights, beeping noises totally gone too! Useless!!
A good idea December 3, 2007 smartyp (London) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle for its option of heating water to 80 degrees for coffee or a hot water bottle. That worked fine, and it's a feature I am very keen on. But on boil, the kettle kept boiling for about 25 seconds after a full rolling boil had been achieved, resulting in a volcanic geyser of steam and noise. So I returned it and got a Kenwood stealth boil kettle instead. It is likely that I just got a duff example of this design. Now if only I could have both non-boil heating and stealth boil features in one kettle..
Not good! August 12, 2007 S V BAUDAINS (Channel Islands) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was really impresssed by all the features advertised for this kettle; unfortunately mine like the other reviewers reaches boiling point and carries on for a while longer. Also when pouring it seems to come out of the sides as well as through the spout, regardless of how much or how little water is in the kettle. The lid is not easy - I get it open only for it to click straight shut again. The only plus points of this kettle are that it boils super-quick and looks nice! But I certainly wouldnt replace it with the same model.
