I have now had two of these kettles and am waiting for Bosch to come back to me with their suggestions for a second replacement. Lid pinged off with a full kettle which could have been very dangerous. Very disappointed as Bosch are so good for their other products.

The Bosch Solitaire is an attractive kettle, it boils quickly and is easy to keep clean but I've only had mine 8 months and the lid just snapped off. Reading the other reviews here that have suffered the same, it looks like a definite design fault. I'd expect better from Bosch.

Great kettle, great looks, feels chunky and well put together.
Works really well, but...............
8 months in, the lid snapped off, not so good for such a premium product:(

Great looker and very efficient but after 2 years, 2 broken lids and 2 kettles we are now looking for an alternative. Bosch have admitted that there is a design fault with the lid mechanism but have not updated the product.

1/After reading the other 2 reviews I was a little worried as I had already ordered this kettle. However I should not have been concerned. The kettle is not at all noisy, and boils incredibly quickly. Such a smart design too! Recommended
2/My wonderful Bosch kettle has now become a disappointment to me. After 8 months of use I am still more than happy with its performance, but the lid has now snapped off. I contacted Bosch who were most discourteous, even rude. They merely sent me a replacement lid, no instructions on how to replace it and the screws holding the lid are not a standard screwdriver fitting and are virtually impossible to reach anyway. No offer of sending an engineer to fit it and if I need a replacement I have to go back to the retailer!
Most disgruntled.
