I guess this item falls under the category of "stocking filler" and it did for two people receiving presents from me this year. They both liked it too, which was a result. The thing is very simple but comes across as being well-made and thought-out. It's already proven useful for putting hot pans on and it's pretty useful for opening those tight jars as well.
It has a little hole for hanging on kitchen racks, or it will fit sleekly into any drawer without too much fuss.
So, for less than a fiver, you can't be complaining here.

I have only owned this for a few weeks, but I already wonder how I ever managed without it.
This mat prevents plates or bowls moving at all when it is placed underneath, which makes, for example, cutting something on a plate so much easier and safer. I also turn my wooden boards over on occasion and cut on the underside - once again, this item stops the board slipping.
Washing is easy - in the dishwasher and it is also small enough to store easily in a drawer if you ever stop using it long enough to need to put it away, that is!

From time to time you come accross a product that is well designed, very affordable and does 10 times more than it says on the tin.
The multimat is easy to use, and easy to clean.
I bought it to place hot pans on, but now fand myself using it all of the time.
As has already been said it is excellent under chopping boards, but it is even better under pyrex to stop it slipping hen quickly whisking eggs etc.
It is such a simple product, with so many uses.
Recommended!

making it one of the better multi-tasking kitchen tools available.
COLOUR - VOLCANIC (Orange).
It is a ridged circular heat resistant silicone mat, of approx 8" / 20.5 cm diameter, which is also dishwasher safe.
As per the manufacturer's details, its purpose is four-fold:-
a) Use instead of a trivet for stable kitchen surface heat
protection.
b) Use under a chopping board or a mixing bowl as an
anti-skid device, for extra safety.
c) Use instead of an oven glove.
d) Use it as an aid to open those stubborn jar lids.
This SUPER item comes in a variety of colours... to mix or match...with any kitchen colour scheme, or just pop it in a drawer - it takes up very little space!
I find it particularly useful for stabilising a bowl when whisking the cream for 'Nigella's Instant Chocolate Mousse', in Nigella Express by NIGELLA LAWSON, keeping a carving dish steady when slicing the Sunday roast and prising off that stubborn new strawberry jam jar lid!
