It's cheap, but steam won't work September 21, 2008 J. Bhatt (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This was my third Philips iron in a row (for normal domestic use) but this one was nowhere as good as the previous two models. GC2522 looks quite stylish and for the first few weeks it worked very well. However, it soon started dragging its feet when it came to continuous steam ironing. The steam just won't come out even if you set it to the maximum setting and even if you set the temperature to maximum. It seems they've tried to put in place an an auto shut-off system for steam so that the steam isn't lost when the iron isn't moving (i.e. presumed to be not in use). But they've got it wrong somehow and the steam doesn't come out unless you move the iron back and forth almost violently - hardly the kind of thing you want to be doing while ironing delicate clothes! So the bottom line: don't buy this unless you want to end up being frustrated.
