Product Description This stylish Volcanic Wok from Le Creuset is the ultimate in cooking equipment. Ideal for cooking stir-fries, curries and noodles, this versatile product can also cook a great casserole. Made from cast iron, it heats up to incredibly high temperatures and retains that heat for long periods of time. Available in a range of other colours, this wok features cast handles, a toughened-glass lid with Phenolic knob and an enamelled exterior. The inside of the wok has been left untreated, and will form its own 'patina' over a period of time

Le Creuset enamelled 36 cm CAST IRON WOK March 10, 2008 AMAZON REVIEWER 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
with side handles and a glass lid. Sturdy, functional design and attractive enough to take to the table! Large flat base, for maximum and even heat distribution, making it easy to move ingredients around and possibly store some against the rounded sides, for e.g. meat to prevent overcooking. Stir-frying/braising/steaming/poaching on any heat source, including induction. Recipe leaflet included - although limited this does give you a start if new to this version of healthy cooking! The classic rounded interior is ideal for stir frying and my favourite recipe using my Wok is a handed-down version of a `Prawn and Vegetable Stir Fry', but there is a useful section entitled:- `Woks and Moroccan Tagines' in the book:- `The Cast Iron Way to Cook', by Sue Cutts, one of Le Creuset's consultants, which gives a guide to the use of the Le Creuset Wok, as well as some delicious recipes, including :- `Peppered Pork Stir-Fry' and `Braised Orange Duck' Available in a variety of colours, at Amazon, today, some at great prices!
The perfect wok? March 7, 2008 Jack Oliver (Kent, England) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
Although quite pricey, this is a wonderful, versatile pan to own. I use it frequently for stir-fry cooking with consistently good results. It's so easy to put ingredients to the side while frying other ingredients, then mix them together. This pan is a perfect fit on my electric hob - the base is exactly the same diameter as the small ring, thus optimising the heat distribution. Also, it's fun to use! So, dig deep into your wallet and get wokking!

The best and last wok you will ever need!!! March 1, 2006 52 out of 58 found this review helpful
I’ve cooked with woks for years; most you find are either Teflon coated steel or Carbon Steel. I never find that Teflon lasts very long and you have to be careful not to cook anything too acidic (curries) in Carbon Steel, both types are usually made from thin metal so heat retention and distribution is typically poor. These types no matter their cost also generally have flat internal bottoms so you need to use more oil. What a difference the Le Creuset wok makes; while the outside of the bottom is flat to sit on the stovetop the inside is concave so you need very little oil to cook. Because its cast iron you can cook anything you want in it, at virtually any temperature. The wok is very large and sufficiently shallow angled to allow you to push food up the side to cook more slowly while moving whatever you need to into the hotter centre; this is great when cooking meats. Its cast iron construction means its heat distribution and retention properties are excellent as is its durability, I genuinely believe this is the last wok I will ever need to purchase.
A Le Creuset fan. February 15, 2006 27 out of 35 found this review helpful
Recieved the Le Creuset wok for Christmas from my Parents. Having owned a few Le Creuset pans and adding to them as and when I can afford to I mentioned I wanted the wok. When I recieved it I was suprised by the Size! Its big enough to cook a dish for my family of 5 and a few extra kids for tea. The only down side I have is the weight and where I store it on a top shelf! Shouldn't be an issue when I get my new kitchen and additional storage space. I've used it for stir frys and for deep frying banana fritters or samosas. It cleans up well, only needing a wipe on some occassions with kitchen paper. The lid is especially useful if cooking in advance and covering up until ready to serve. The woks also useful to serve dishes in at the table as long as its on a heatproof surface- the kids just help themselves to how much they want.I would recommend this wok to anyone considering buying a wok as it will last a life time and will never go out of fashion.
