Metallic June 4, 2008 Mrs. C. Baxter 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle just under two weeks ago ... it's been returned already. I'm thinking we might have just had a dud... it looked pretty funky, it poured so well and I would have liked to have kept it. The only thing was that after the very first boil; limescale formed on the inside of the kettle and probably one out of every four cups of tea (and I don't even drink that many a day) the water tasted unbelievably metallic which is something our previous kettle never did. This, as I said, might just have been a one off (considering previous reviews) but we've decided to buy a kettle that uses the Brita Filter system to see if this makes any difference.
Simply a Great Kettle April 27, 2008 M. Hook (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
It does as the description says. Simple design. Well balanced when pouring and there's no steam from the lid to burn your hand like some kettles. Quiet. Easy fill through lid or spout. Clever operation, in that the on switch is combined with the lid opener. Easy to see water level. Allows you to boil only what you need, so if it's just one cup of water you need then there's no problem and it's ready in less than 20 seconds. Poor insulation being stainless steel but when you can boil only what you need this isn't a problem. Great Kettle.
FANTASTIC! April 11, 2008 P. LEAVER (Shropshire, England) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
We moved to a VERY hard water area (S/E Shropshire) 18 months ago and this is my third kettle - they just don't last! Normally, within 48 hours of descaling, other kettles would be scaled up again, with large white bits floating in the water, and even with a filter on the kettle we had to use a tea strainer to try to stop the scale appearing in our tea and coffee (we could never drink the last inch otherwise we'd get a mouthful of bits). NOT WITH THIS KETTLE! We have been using it for a week now (we are a family of five, so it can be boiled several times a day) and there is no evidence yet of any scale forming on the bottom of the kettle - it says it's 'ultra resistant' and it certainly seems to be. I am absolutely delighted as descaling the kettle was a chore that needed doing at least twice a week. Being stainless steel the kettle is quite heavy and the outside gets very hot so avoid touching, but if you have a scale problem like we have then I can highly recommend this kettle.
