Excelent Machine March 16, 2008 God, by all accounts must be a sadist (Newcastle) Not much to say other than it does exactly what it says on the tin. Flawless performance - and dam fine coffee. You do have a have to pick a good coffee of course mind! Didn't have it for long though (well, my flatmate didn't) - it's making way for some serious nespresso machine. Which to be honest, ain't really that much better (IMHO) - but it's a bit more about the latest trend than the taste with this guy (which you all think is me by now of course :) Look, unless you wana spend 500+ you can't go wrong with this one.

OK, so I have had my machine about 2 years now and for the first year it was in almost daily use - the coffeee maker side of it anyway. The steamer was probably used about a dozen times in all. Anyway after a year of being sat on the shelf I now have other house occupants so thought it about time to put the coffee maker back to use. The coffee maker works fine for me... but (and there's alway one) I tried to use the steamer today for the first time in a year and I had a lot of steam come out from the expresso area for 30 seconds, then nothing.... I followed the manual once more as I thought I was doing something wrong. Alas I wasn't now nothing happens.... It would appear that everyone has the same complaint. So this was an expensive machine for a steamer that I used a dozen times... it's now just a big coffee maker... I am gutted. If anyone knows how to repair this, let me know.
Flawed Design. May 4, 2007 David Willis (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Really nice Espresso Maker, with a jug on the side if a large number of people come round for coffee. Have had the machine for four years. Have used the jug 3 times. The espresso section was used (until today) every day at least once. The major design fault with this machine (all internal, just take the lid off!) is the mechanism that holds the pipe from the pump to the metal block that you fasten your brewing head to (the thing you put the dry coffee in!). The mechanism is plastic, the pipe is held in place using a cir clip. After time the plastic the cir clip holds against shears and you loose all pressure. It is repairable (either new bit or just use super glue to stick the plastic together and then refasten the cir clip). Second design fault (the killer for my machine) The metal block (above) is made of a cheap alloy. The plastic mechanism is held in place with a steel screw. After 4 years the two corrode to a point where the screw shears if you try to remove it. I managed a temporary repair. But this morning that too has failed. Onwards to a new coffee machine..
Potentially not as good as the rating! December 5, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
We purchased this product around 14 months ago online from amazon. The product itself, for many months provided our needs for not only the occasional filter coffee but more importantly the daily latte. The machine went wrong after about 11 months in the fact that the espresso part leaked, everywhere. I believe other purchasers have experienced similar problems. After contacting the service centre and the fact that the product was still under guarantee, it was collected with a small delay and replaced. The replacement is the model with a timer! (push buttons without the nice manual dials...) This model, according to the latte maker is not as good as the original, in fact, the espresso coffee produced just isn't the same (very bitter). We are yet to follow up with the service centre as to why the replacement model was not the same as originally supplied.
Unhappy - bad value - has broken very quickly December 3, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Was initially very happy with this machine, but similar to a user below, had problems later on. After 15 months the cappucino maker side of things has broken, and that's with very light use - about 4 cups a week. What we are left with now is a very large filter coffee machine! Similarly we had no joy trying to find out what the guarantee is on this or getting through to Krups customer service. If this machine was half the price, there would be no problem, but it seems poor quality for this price.
