Disappointing August 12, 2008 Miss L (Cambridge) I agree with other reviews regarding its blending. It will only blend efficiently if small quantities are added at a time. It comes with a grinder and juicer but I buy my coffee ground and the juicer is a nightmare to clean and doesn't separate the fruit from the skin very well! My jug lasted for 18 months before going brittle and splitting. The cheapest replacement jug I can find is 14. I'm going to look for a different make!
Excellent Product May 17, 2008 Rosie B (Dublin, Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had my Cucina Blender for 19 years now and it is still going strong! Only problem is that the jug has become very scratched over the years. If I can't get a replacement jug I'll have no hesitation in buying another Cucina.
Who needs a Vitamix! this is GREAT!! December 9, 2007 J. WHITING (London United Kingdom) interesting reading the other reviews about the small plastic prong on the bottom of the jar. I must say it's the first time i've noticed it, and I've had my blender for over 2 years. When I looked I can agree that the prong could break, but not if your using the jug properly and gently. It is obvious to me that you put the jug on the base and then twist it into position! The mill attachment is great for grinding nuts and seeds, and the fruit filter is great for making almond milk! I noticed one review said he had two burn out! I would say perhaps he didn't read the instructions. It does say clearly that it shouldn't be used for over 3 mins at a time, with a min gap inbetween. It is only a cheap blender after all. and dry products should only be processed for 1 min at a time. With this in mind I use mine every day at least twice. Ideally I'd like a vitamix but they are 400 so for the price of this blender I am a VERY HAPPY customer.
Design Defect October 20, 2006 JJM (Wiltshire) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought one of these about 9 months ago and since then I have had two jugs. The prong on the base of the jug that engages a slot in the base, which I presume is a safety feature, is extremely weak and liable to break off. This has happened twice. The first time I had the jug replaced under the warranty and then the replacement broke. This clearly a design fault on this particular model/manufacturer and for the price I would have expected something better. I have made up a metal strip and fixed it onto the jug base to get it operating but you should not have to do this with modern equipment. Poor.
One very bad design fault. July 9, 2006 Anthony Preston (Appleby, N.Lincs) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
On the jug there is a little prong which goes into a slot on the top of the base when putting the jug onto the base ready for use, thereby negating the safety cut-out. This little prong is ridiculously, pathetically weak and is always likely to break. Apart from this the machine is great I just wedged a bit of wood into the slot and it works fine. Tony Preston
