Product Description The National Palace Museum of Taiwan can be considered to be the 'Louvre of the Orient' for the richness and scope of its collection of Antiquities and paintings. The collaboration between Alessi and the Museum grew out of the Museum's wish to open itself to the international scene and encourage greater awareness of Chinese history and culture in the West. Stefano Giovannoni was asked to design a mascot for the new Museum of the 21st Century and from this was born the 'Family of Mr Chin', separately moulded they are assembled like toy soldiers giving greater articulation.

I thought this for a while too - but it turns out you have to wind it fully, then counterwind it back, and then set the time.
Works perfectly every time then.
Form over Function at first - Bring out the WD40!!April 13, 2008 PC Pete(England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Delightful and beautifully designed. Unfortunately, Mr. Chin does not always ring on demand. The timer winds down but no sound is heard. Definitely a shortcoming for a kitchen timer. I cannot recommend Mr. Chin, lovely as he is.
PS 3 months later.... Mr.Chin has been dramatically improved by a carefully aimed squirt of WD40 up his rear end! This has loosened his mechanism and he rings faithfully every time now. 2 extra stars for Mr. Chin! (Four Stars).
