Amazing bit of kit July 10, 2008 Mr. Francis Hockney (Oxford, England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the first time I've ever reviewed a product but this is so good that I thought I should have a go. I bought this to replace another Magimix Nespresso machine that had an integral steam/heating nozzle. This had been great but was wearing out. I'd had it a few years and I do make a lot of coffee. In my opinion the separate coffee machine and milk heater is far superior to my previous combination unit. The coffee has an excellent crema head to it and the milk temperature is just right. Unless you prefer mouth scalding, straight from the kettle, temperature, this will be perfect. Also there is no mess with the milk heater. The steam nozzle system was fine but this is so much better, Finally, both items are well styled and finely engineered. All in all, I'm not sure how this could be improved on.
Worth every penny May 27, 2008 Papaver (Gloucestershire) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My husband likes a good espresso and I like a latte, and this machine satisfies both of us. We struggled with a Krups espresso machine for a while but never got to grips with it, and have also tried coffee from a Senseo machine - neither of them come anywhere near the Nespresso for taste and ease of use. We have had the Nespresso coffee maker for a couple of months now and it is still a real treat to decide which capsule we want from our selection box and then enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. We always warm the espresso cup with hot water from the machine first so haven't had any problems with the temperature of the coffee that one of the other reviewers had.
Fantastic little machine - no mess, great coffee April 30, 2008 AnnPan (London United Kingdom) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I once shared a flat with a friend who brought her traditional espresso machine to live with us. She was messy, and her machine was even messier. Hot milk spluttered everywhere and coffee grounds sat in drifts around my kitchen - it put me right off such machines. Now, many years later, my heart has been quite won over by this machine. It's tiny, wee, sits right next to my kettle and the whole time I'm out walking the dog each morning I think longingly about the coffee I'll have when I get home. Only trouble is I'm starting to have two coffees a day, sometimes even three.... and they are delicious. You just switch the power button on and it heats up in a minute or two, ready to go. Then you pop in a pod of ready-ground coffee, slip a cup under the spout and press go. With a little practice you'll know which of the many Nespresso coffees you prefer, how much water, whether you want milk and so on. Yes the pod system is a little pretentious - you join the Nespresso Club and order pods 50 at a time which are delivered to your home (so you have to have somewhere to store the boxes). But it does taste really fresh and it's hugely cheaper than a Starbucks habit. No mess, the aeroccino makes great latte or capuccino when you're in the mood, and it's hot but not too hot to drink straight away. I use the water from my water filter which (a) makes delicious coffee (London water is too hard to make really nice coffee) and (b) means I don't have to descale my machine. It's incredibly easy to refill the water supply and clean out the old coffee pods - I just wish I could find an easy way to recycle them. I spent a couple of months deciding whether or not to buy it and then got it in January. Four months later I'm even more pleased with it than when I first bought it. A great product.
Excellent coffee and superb system April 4, 2008 P. J. Allen (U.K.) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought a Nespresso system on the recommendation of my Italian colleague, who described it as some of the best coffee he's tasted. As he said "I am an Italian and I know my coffee, so trust me." He also owns a Gaggia and he says that his Nespresso system was better, as well as being much easier and tidier because you don't have to clear up coffee grounds all the time and clear out the machine. So, I did trust him and I plumped for the Magimix M100 with the Aeroccino because of the good reviews, as well as the fact that I'm a 1-cup-a-day person, so there was little point in going for the really expensive, all-singing and all-dancing models. I have not been disappointed. The coffee tastes excellent and the variety of capsules available means everyone can find a blend to suit their tastes. The coffee is also very smooth thanks to what is probably the thickest crema I've seen on an espresso. The capsules work on a drop-in and drop-out system, which is activated by a very solid handle, and it is very easy to use. The used capsules collect within a basket inside the machine so all you have to do is tip them out into the bin, replace the basket, and you're done. The machine is also very good. The pump isn't too noisy and, providing you let the machine warm up and you pre-heat the pump and cup by running some hot water through from the ample water reservoir, you can be assured of a piping hot espresso. The machine can generate 19 bar of pumped water pressure, which is far superior to the 15 bar of steam pressure you get with some traditional coffee machines. This is because steam can sometimes burn the coffee and lead to a bitter taste. The Aeroccino is also a clever gadget. Just chuck some chilled milk in, press the button and, depending on which attachment you place on the very smart magnetic-rotor system, you either have hot froth for a cappuccino or hot milk for a latte within 50 seconds. The froth is so thick that you have to spoon it out. Lovely! For 100 with the Aeroccino, the Magimix M100 is a brilliant system for those looking for a really good espresso at home. Coffee aficionados might turn their noses up at it, but I think what I am drinking is every bit as good as what I have in Cafe Nero, Costa, Starbucks, etc. and, at 23p per drink, it is much cheaper! Well done Magimix and well done Nespresso!
One of lifes little luxuries !! March 24, 2008 sunnyjulie (uk) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
What a brilliant little machine.... after reading other peoples reviews I decided to treat myself and I'm glad I did. I can wholeheartedly say after buying this over 6 weeks ago it has completed its trial period; living up to my expectations and better. OK its a pain not being able to buy the cofee in the shop, but its so easy to order online and very reasonably priced. The aeroccino is great...one little tip is to make sure you don,t leave the hot milk waiting at all before you pour onto the hot coffee and give it a stir too. I love big cups of cofee and it works really well. Its small and easy to use ....time for another little luxury I think!
