The microplane graters are the best hand held graters I've ever come across, bar the violet handled one. I have previously bought the blue and black handled ones which are fantastic for fine grating and zesting, but I wanted one as efficient for coursley grating onions and potatoes. The blades are excellent, so good infact that I also sliced off part of my thumb. The only problem is that the plastic surrounding it just cracked in numerous places when I was grating over a small bowl, so now the blade isn't taut anymore and is even more of a hazard. I'd pass on the extra course grater next time unless it was all in metal and perhaps came with a guard (which can be a pain too!) or some form of support, as it is difficult to grate harder foods on such a small area with only a small handle. They are a little too expensive to break so soon.
