1 out of 5 stars Poor product   May 28, 2008

I received this blender for Christmas 07 and by Feb 08 it was already useless.

As some other reviewers have pointed out, it just can't handle anything even slightly robust. Although the blades are sharp enough there is not nearly enough torque to drive them around. I usually make curry pastes and ragu's by hand and I thought this would speed things up a bit. The SECOND time I used it the blades continually stuck, the motor started burning and the threads were decimated.

Sadly, another case of an over-hyped celebrity chef trying to make a quick buck.

1 out of 5 stars reluctant to even give it one star - it's so bad   May 3, 2008

what a complete waste of money. I bought two of these - one for me, one for granny and can confirm it CANNOT deal with any of the following ingredients:
fresh herbs - turns to a pulp
celery - blade gets stuck
tomato pieces - even when cut up small - turns to a pulp
apple pieces - gets stuck
nuts - no way! gets stuck
bread - cannot make breadcrumbs unless bread is so stale it's gone crispy!
garlic - nope
onion - a nice array of pulp and big lumps, even when precut

So still waiting to find a food it can actually deal with.

AVOID!

I didn't read the two reviews so I've got what I deserve - another little kitchen gadget to gather dust. It is USELESS. Spookily, before it arrived I harvested loads of wild garlic whilst playing golf. And there is a recipe for wild garlic pesto. Which if you like your leaves stretched, wound into balls and scrunched up instead of chopped, it's grand. The pesto ended up being processed by the Kenwood and I have to say, very tasty. As for the gadget, don't bother dear reader because it doesn't do what it says on the label.

2 out of 5 stars OK blender   December 4, 2007

Blender is OK, easy to clean inside the chopper spindle, unit is easy to clean, bowl a little fragile, better grade of material, better thought to chopper spindle design would help as plastic an metal to not go, one wears quicker than the other, this means once worn the motor will spin and the blade will go nowhere. On the plus side more hygienic than Kenwood, as you can clean inside the chopper. But chop chop not so good, some how does not do it well you always end of with under-chopped bits and over chopped bits, shame !!!!!

2 out of 5 stars Does not grind spices   June 11, 2007

I bought this product for its compact size and because it was described as being able to 'grind, chop and pulse'. I like to grind my own spices as well as make fresh curry pastes and pesto type sauces. It can chop and pulse but it cannot grind seeds or coffee beans at all because the blade is not close enough to the base once it is placed on the motor. A real disappointment for curry lovers! Does anyone know of a mini chopper that can grind seeds as well as be big enough to make curry pastes and pesto? The search goes on..
