You get what you pay for! January 8, 2008 Comical Engineer (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We've had ours for over 5 years now. It's used every single day on a variety of bread, crumpets, muffins etc. It's never broken down (that's tempting fate) but if it does, I can probably fix it myself - and you can get the spares! That said, the only things that could really go wrong are one of the elements or the timer. On top of that, it's stylish and easy to clean and makes great toast - and the slots fit real sized bread not like lots of the cheap nasty ones that only toast the bottom half of the slice. It's well screwed together and MADE IN BRITAIN. They should make one with a Union Jack on the side! Pay the price and keep it for life. Beats the junk you have to throw out every couple of years because it broke and you can't repair it.
Flawed - but nearly perfect. December 14, 2007 Sennapod (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Enticed by the solid electro-mechanical 'engineering' in this, I was very annoyed when the mechanical timer failed after 6 months domestic usage. However Dualit themselves, as well as Amazon, responded well (amazon sent me a replacement !) - and I'm going to put the failure down as a one-off (I can't beleive all timers are that unreliable). More reassuringly for me is that - even if it were out of guarantee, replacement parts are readily available for a few pounds, meaning this toaster can potentially go on and on and not end up in landfill after a few years usage, like so many other modern appliances.
Very good toaster but only buy if you have the money November 3, 2007 Annie (London United Kingdom) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We've had many toasters and wanted something that was well made, for which the parts would be easy to get, looked good but most importantly, worked. Our previous toaster (Siemens) was all style over function and cost about 90. This is an excellent toaster, but if you just want a toaster that does a good job, I think you can easily get that for a fraction of the cost (although you won't get all the other pluses). If you want a toaster that's great and lasts a life time, then it's worth spsending the money to buy this. The 2+2 means you can choose to toast 1,2 or four slices of bread. This is why this model is more expensive than the other four slot Dualits. Personally I think it's worth the extra for the versatility. The sandwich cages are also really useful.
Don't bother buying this toaster October 8, 2007 ms 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
It looks expensive. It is expensive but frankly it's a waste of money. I have bought two dualit toasters over the past few years. They start off toasting well but soon slow down and lose the momentum pretty quickly. I certainly won't buy a third one. For the money I have paid I could have bought 20 toasters and had better toast hundred of times over.
New Dualit convert - it does what toasters are supposed to do.... September 16, 2007 A Whitehead (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
....it toasts!!! It toasts perfect!! Like any wise Amazon guru, I waited for the supreme 'One Day Only' offer on Kitchen appliances to get mine - all for the tiny very much reduced fortune of 111.20. That enticement only made me take the plunge - the most refreshing swim into the 'quality appliance' sea I've experienced yet!! I could hardly believe just how perfect slice after slice of bread, crumpet after crumpet and muffin after muffin came out - all on it's thorough first day workout. I'll be honest and admit that I was converted after experiencing my cousin's identical Dualit toaster back in July - and I've salivated (not literally) about having one ever since. How did Amazon know that I needed that final enticement of a Kitchen Appliances sale?? It was perfect.......and I'm talking about the toaster here!! I would recommend this toaster to anyone who wonders whether they can stretch their budget to the top end when looking for a new one.....coz it does what toasters are supposed to do....it toasts. It toasts perfect!!
