Great design, but a litttle heavy for some people October 26, 2008 C. Isaac (London, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was also a little wary of some of the feedback on this kettle, but it may be the newer version that solves some of the niggles previously mentioned. I love the design, primarily that it is easy to fill (touch button lid that springs open slowly), filter (ideal for hard water areas), non-drip pouring, clear fill level indicator and the speed of boiling. The only downsides are that it does seem a little heavier than other kettles when empty and the somewhat higher price! Overall, I feel that the ease of use, looks and style justify the price.
Style that leaks alot October 5, 2008 M. Harrow (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is great looking; but the quality is sadly lacking. It first developed a dribble when being poured: leaving a puddle to clear up each time you make a cuppa. Later it started leaking badly out of the base: what rubbish. Add to that it is slow to boil compared to cheaper models. I wouldn't recommend this product - AVOID. However the toaster works fine for me - at the moment!!
Form follows function? October 4, 2008 Mr. M. Richards (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Sorry Porsche, sorry Siemens, this is a terrible kettle. Sure it looks like it was designed to make a cup of tea whilst breaking the sound barrier and the brushed steel is gorgeous to touch; but as a kettle it is completely useless. The controls are fiddly - the boil button doesn't always click down, the thermostat sometimes doesn't cut in when the water is boiling and you end up with a kitchen spa. The controls are too close to where hot steam comes up around the lid and you can easily get burned and it pours sloppily. Worst of all, sooner or later, every Porsche kettle will begin to leak around its base. Okay, this is a common fault with many jug kettles, but for the price and coming from two highly reputed companies, this should not happen with this product. And it isn't just one kettle that's faulty, I'm on my third in three years - and now that's started to leak. I've just come home to find my work surfaces and floor flooded. One - maybe I was unlucky, two - grr - yes I'll accept a replacement, three - surely this one has to work? But can I possibly live with a fourth one? In short - no. Siemens customer service is non-existent, surly and expensive; so I guess I'll be buying another kettle from another manufacturer. In fact the whole Siemens Porsche line is a turkey. I also got the toaster which gave up after two years with a fault that would have cost almost as much buying a new one. The 5 replacement from Tesco's continues to soldier on and doesn't burn bread nearly as often.
Form over function September 28, 2008 P. Hogg (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle 18 months ago and its been a massive let down. Biggest problem is it pours that bad you have boiling water everywhere. The filter near the spout came off frequently and now the button wont stay down so it cant boil anymore. Ive Bought a new kettle and although doesnt look as good, it is better thought out and a third the price. Dont be taken in
after four years, still works as well as day one September 8, 2008 demelzapuss (lancaster, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Brought this kettle for 68 quid in June 2004 to go with a new kitchen. The kettle is now only showing it's age in terms of very superficial corrosion of the inner plate (low pH water round here). In all other respects it almost looks and works like new. Unlike the kitchen. Timed test: boils 0.25L (its minimum - compare to 0.5L in other kettles) in 32 secs.
