avoid at all costs November 8, 2008 Rosie Cook (Scotland) I bought this machine for looks and the drop down paddle ( had a breadmaster that made wonderful bread but was getting a new kitchen and so I wanted all my gadgets in stainless steel ( put my breadmaster in the loft n kissed it apologetically). The MR breadmaker boasted a drop down paddle( which never really worked ) 16mths later ( still under guarantee) it stopped kneading and all the recipes I,ve used before were disasters tried once more and it refused to work at all, discovered that tho still under guarantee it would cost me a 15.00 to send back to Morphy Richards and then the guarantee would be from first purchase. So I consigned the rubbish guarantee and their rubbish bread maker to the local tip and got my breadmaster back down from the loft and cleaned it and made a gorgeous loaf from it. I even x it and apologised so I will be using her from now on. Oh! I call it her cos she is amazing. guess the MR one was def a man, its balls packed up, lol. do not waste your money on this machine it won,t outlast the manufacturers guarantee, trust me I,m a reviewer for MR lol. Oh! don,t buy their new toaster either it is not worth the box its packaged in.
fantastic breadmaker! October 15, 2008 happy mum (Highlands) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After making my own bread by hand a few times I decided to buy a bread maker, just for the sake of saving some time. Fresh, yummy bread being very important to us French people...So after looking in a few shops we decided to go for the Morphy Richards 48268 breadmaker. Well it has not disappointed. We use it on the French bread setting for the most part and the bread is truly delicious. The paddle does drop down at the end of the cycle, which then only leaves a dent in the crust after removal. I will definitely apply the advise of soaking the paddle in sunflower oil now and again, and only ever use plastic utensils with it. So we shall see if it stands the test of time but as far as flavour and texture are concerned it is a winner! Highly recommend.
I Love my Breadmaker!! July 22, 2008 Ms. K. L. Simmons (Kent, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I received this breadmaker as a birthday present from my dad last October (after being extremely jealous of my Grandma's breadmaker!) and I think it is absolutely fantastic! It makes brilliant bread and the timer function is excellent as it ensures your bread is warm and frashly cooked for when you wake up! My favourite function has to be the Jam making function! Before getting a breadmaker I had tried to make bread (with limited success) by hand but I would NEVER have dared to try to make jam, as it stands now I make batch after batch of jam and change the fruit slightly to make different combinations and you literally just have to chuck in all the ingredients (make sure you do measure precisely though!) and the machine does everything else! It's absolutely delicious too! I give people jars of jam and they think I must be some amazing cook, and sometimes I just let them think that! haha! If you're thinking about getting a breadmaker I think this is definitely a winner, as has already been said, it is quite large but as long as you have room to store it, that's not really a problem (sometimes if I'm cooking other things I just pop it on the floor and let it do its thing!)Good luck and happy bread and jam making!
Just isn't reliable July 11, 2008 Anonymous 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Well, my second unit has just given up now. I first bought this unit last autumn, and have already had that replaced under guarantee. The replacement has now just given up as well. That makes the average life a unit of around 4 months. Pretty dire. I've followed the instructions to the letter. All I tend to make is the 2lb french loaves with the occasional pizza dough and fruit loaf. Amazon were very helpful in sending out this replcement unit, and morphy richards were extremely helpful sending out a spare baking tin for the first unit (didn't make any difference though, still had the same problem). But even though the customer service from both has been great, it doesn't change the fact that this unit is just not up to the job. It's a pity, because when it works it can produce nice bread, but after the first few uses, the motor starts skipping, first just occasionally but then it's down hill from there. This second unit the motor now seems to have completely disconnected from the part that's supposed to spin the kneading blade, so it just doesn't knead at all anymore (the first unit just kept 'skipping' or 'jumping' so the bread wasn't getting kneaded, although at least it was moving a bit, just not enough to make a good loaf by the time I got it replaced). This is most certainly not a unit that you can rely on, which is very very very disappointing because when it does work it's absolutely fantastic. I've completely lost faith in this unit, even though technically the unit I've got is still under guarantee, it just isn't worth the hassle to try to get it repaired or replaced... I just don't expect any replacement of the same model will last any longer, and I'm now fed up with it. I'm going to bite the bullet and buy the panasonic that everyone keeps recommending.

Bought one of these a week ago and love it. It's easy to use, just chuck the ingredients in and walk away. The recipies supplied are good and the bread tasty. This machine was rated top by Which? magazine but buy it from the co-op online - I got mine new for 46.50 with no p&p!
