Good device July 12, 2008 J. Kowalski (London, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I made two breads and I was a bit disappointed, because breads were very soft. Instead of 320ml of water (advised in book) I added only 300ml yesterday, and I have really nice crispy loaf :) Easy to use, make nice breads, and you can add everything what you want. My second bread was olive bread, and it was very tasty. No experience is required! A bit loud. So I'm a bit worried about my neighbours, and I will probably not use this device during night. But it is not very loud, so maybe I will change my mind. It's easy to clean. Actually there is not too much to clean at all. So it is good device for lazy people like me. Preparation of bread takes about 5 minutes of manual work, then it takes 4 hours to bake it (mixing, raising, and baking). There is rapid mode (2 hours), but I didn't use it. One problem was with weighing... There is a measure to prepare proper amount of liquid (water), but they didn't include measure which allows you to prepare correct amount of flour. I divided 1.5kg flour into 9.5 glasses, so 475g is exactly 3 glasses. It's old school way, but worked very well. Expensive, but if you don't care, and you are lazy, then it's good machine to consider.
The best thing since unsliced bread! July 8, 2008 A. R. Marston Having used another make of machine for several years, I cannot praise this machine enough. I have made several types of loaves on this one and all with a good result the first time. The Wholemeal is particularly good as it has a fine texture and does not emerge from the machine as a small lump which can happen with other Breadmakers. The Fruit loaf defies description, it has just got to be tried. I know that you can get a cheaper machine, if you can't afford it now, wait until you can and do yourself a favour!
The best thing since sliced bread July 7, 2008 W. Matthews (Free Cornwall) Had the Panasonic since Xmas '07. This machine is just heaven, it makes the most perfect bread every time. I've never had a product of any type that delivers every thing it promises, and more!
A good purchase! July 3, 2008 Tom (Northampton United Kingdom) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Still using twice a week with bread mixes only as these seem to work a lot better for me than starting from scratch as you just put mix in and add water. Great tasting bread although does not keep long. Had to buy a wire cooling rack and an electric Knife. Very happy with item.
Happy Days!!! June 26, 2008 P. M. Wilbertz (Essex, England) I have wanted one of these for a long, long, time and, at last, I have one. Wonderful! What ever did I do without it? I read all the available reviews on breadmakers but was drawn back, again and again to the Panasonic SD255. My house is now full of the wonderful smell of fresh bread; my husband who was rather sceptical about yet another gadget sitting in the corner, unused, is now a real enthusiast! Happy Days! Good for Panasonic!
